Job summary

HSBC is seeking an experienced professional for the role of Assistant Director, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in India. You will own product strategy for data platforms and AI capabilities, define roadmaps, and drive prioritization across teams and security requirements.

The role requires deep expertise in Google Cloud data/AI services, end-to-end data platform knowledge, and strong stakeholder management to deliver secure, compliant, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience in Product management, preferably in data platforms, cloud platforms or AI/ML platforms, in large-scale environments.
• Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services relevant to data and AI: BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow/Dataproc, Vertex AI, IAM, KMS, Cloud Operations.
• End-to-end data platform knowledge across ingestion, storage, processing/orchestration, governance/metadata, quality and consumption patterns.
• Understanding of AI enablement components required for ML/Gen AI operationalization.
• Experience balancing developer experience with security, governance, reliability and auditability in regulated environments.
• Strong stakeholder management: align diverse groups, make trade-offs explicit, communicate with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Product strategy, roadmap and outcomes for data platforms and AI-enabled domains to align with Platforms strategy.
• Define quarterly outcomes and multi-quarter roadmaps based on usage data and stakeholder feedback.
• Drive prioritization across value, risk, engineering effort and operational impact.
• Shape data lifecycle capabilities including storage, retention, and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with cyber security, architecture and risk/compliance to embed security controls.

In this role, you will:

• Product strategy, roadmap and outcomes. Own a defined product scope (one or more platform domains such as ingestion, governance, Machine Learning Vertex enablement, or developer experience) while aligning to the broader Platforms strategy.


• Define quarterly outcomes/Objectives and Key Results and a multi-quarter roadmap; keep it current based on usage data, stakeholder feedback, and changing priorities.


• Drive prioritization decisions transparently across value, risk/control requirements, engineering effort, and operational impact.


• Shape capabilities across the data lifecycle, ensuring coherent “paved roads” from source to consumption:


• Storage and analytics patterns (BigQuery/lake/lakehouse), retention and lifecycle management


• Processing/orchestration (Extract, Transform, Load / Email Link Translation), dependency management, resiliency patterns


• Partner with Cyber Security, Architecture and Risk/Compliance to embed controls into platform design (secure-by-default configurations, automated evidence, policy enforcement).

To be successful you will:

• 8-12 years of experience is required on Product management experience in platforms such as (data platforms, cloud platforms, developer platforms, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence platforms), ideally in large-scale environments.


• Strong working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services relevant to data and Artificial Intelligence: BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, Publish/Subscribe , Dataflow/Dataproc, Vertex Artificial Intelligence, Identity and Access Management. / Key Management Service, Cloud Operations.


• Strong end-to-end data platform knowledge across ingestion, storage, processing/orchestration, governance/metadata, quality and consumption patterns.


• Understanding of Artificial Intelligence enablement components required for Machine Learning/Gen Artificial Intelligence operationalization.


• Experience balancing developer experience with security, governance, reliability and auditability in regulated environments.


• Strong stakeholder management: able to align diverse groups, make trade-offs explicit, and communicate clearly with senior stakeholders.


• Experience implementing Gen Artificial Intelligence patterns on Vertex Artificial Intelligence.


• Familiarity with Data plex/Data Catalog, lineage and data quality frameworks. Finance Operations experience optimizing analytics/Machine Learning workloads.
