Job description

At Moody's, we unite the brightest minds to turn today’s risks into tomorrow’s opportunities. We do this by striving to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to be who they are—with the freedom to exchange ideas, think innovatively, and listen to each other and customers in meaningful ways. Moody’s is transforming how the world sees risk. As a global leader in ratings and integrated risk assessment, we’re advancing AI to move from insight to action—enabling intelligence that not only understands complexity but responds to it. We decode risk to unlock opportunity, helping our clients navigate uncertainty with clarity, speed, and confidence.

Skills And Competencies
  • 8–12 years of experience in strategy, consulting, or commercial/customer analytics, with demonstrated experience presenting to and influencing senior leadership
  • Deep understanding of the global commercial banking industry — including Commercial Lending, Anti-Financial Crime, Capital Markets and Enterprise Risk — with working knowledge of customer personas and journeys across these areas
  • Strong external orientation — able to bring market trends, competitive intelligence, and forward‑looking (Horizon-3) thinking into the team's strategic agenda
  • High degree of judgment, maturity, and executive presence; acts as a trusted strategic thought partner to senior leaders on high-impact, ambiguous questions — framing choices, trade-offs, and implications rather than simply presenting analysis; this role engages regularly with Senior Stakeholders and handles confidential strategic and business information
  • Proven ability to build investment cases and portfolio reviews that hold up under senior leadership scrutiny — this is a decision‑support role, not a reporting role
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and providing senior back-up/ coverage across the Commercial Strategy agenda as priorities shift
  • Strong independent research capability — market spotlights, news and trend analysis, competitor benchmarking, and case studies — to inform strategic recommendations. Quick learner across new domains and data sources
  • Technical proficiencies: MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, BI tools, and use of AI for automation are a minimum expectation; proven ability to work with sparse and multi-source data (quantitative and qualitative) to build data-based decision frameworks and connect disparate insights into a coherent recommendation
Education
  • MBA or postgraduate degree from a well-regarded institution(Tier 1/Tier 2) institution strongly preferred; Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field required
Responsibilities
  • Drive strategy formulation, execution monitoring and Horizon-3 initiatives for Banking, providing SLT decision support across portfolio reviews and investment cases
  • Drive strategy formulation for Horizon-3 initiatives, bringing external market perspective and emerging trends into the team's forward‑looking agenda
  • Own portfolio reviews and investment cases that directly support Senior Leadership Team decision-making
  • Own execution monitoring, process governance, and program management for specific strategic initiatives — including product mapping/taxonomy and pricing and packaging discipline — partnering with central strategy and product/domain strategy teams where required, and driving regular review cadences
  • Incorporate regional perspectives into strategic recommendations and Horizon-3 thinking, closing the loop between execution learnings and strategy formulation
  • Provide senior back-up and coverage across the Commercial Strategy agenda, scaling the team's insight capacity
  • Engage directly with SLT and cross‑functional senior stakeholders, handling confidential strategic and business information with judgment and discretion
  • Mentor and provide strategic direction to team members.
  • Represent the Commercial Strategy function in cross‑functional forums, bringing a customer- and market-informed point of view to broader business decisions
About The Team

The Banking Commercial Strategy team drives strategic growth across Moody's Banking solutions through deep customer and market analytics. We deliver data‑driven insights that inform market led strategy — helping shape Moody's long‑term vision for the Banking business.

Our work sits at the center of Moody's efforts to deliver differentiated value to commercial banking clients. By joining us, you will contribute to impactful initiatives spanning strategy formulation, market intelligence, pricing, and customer analytics — while collaborating closely with product, sales, finance, senior leadership, and product/domain and central strategy teams.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity or any other characteristic protected by law.
