The AI Workflow & Automation Lead Developer is a technical leader responsible for executing the development of scalable internal AI and automation tools that increase organizational capability and efficiency.
Reporting to the AI Workflow & Automation Manager, this role partners closely on architecture and roadmap development while leading the execution, build quality, and technical delivery of core systems. This individual brings a strong developer mindset to system design discussions and ensures that tools are architected for scalability, flexibility, and speed. This is a high‑velocity internal innovation role focused on rapid iteration, MVP development, and extensible system design rather than traditional production engineering cycles.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead execution of the development roadmap for AI workflow and automation tools in partnership with the AI Workflow & Automation Manager.
- Contribute to architectural planning and system design, providing technical insight into feasibility, scalability, and implementation implications.
- Design and build scalable, modular, and extensible internal systems that support evolving organizational needs.
- Balance speed and quality by prioritizing functional MVPs and rapid iteration over heavy engineering formalities.
- Establish development standards appropriate for fast-moving internal AI and automation environments.
- Translate business and workflow requirements into technical execution plans in collaboration with Systems Transformation Specialists and other AI Workflow & Automation team members.
- Oversee implementation of new functionality requests and enhancements.
- Ensure new features integrate cleanly into current and future tool ecosystems.
- Serve as the primary quality‑control owner for development outputs within the AI Workflow & Automation team.
- Maintain documentation, system clarity, and technical continuity across tools.
- Partner closely with Systems Transformation Specialists to convert operational needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Participate in sprint planning, sprint kickoffs, and cross‑functional meetings to represent development priorities and progress.
- Serve as a technical consultant to the AI Workflow & Automation team and broader stakeholders.
- Clearly communicate technical tradeoffs, constraints, timelines, and risks to U.S.-based and global teams.
- Ensure visibility between development efforts and other organizational initiatives.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers within the AI Workflow & Automation team.
- Create clarity around development priorities, execution standards, and delivery expectations.
- Foster a culture of rapid experimentation, iteration, and continuous improvement within the development function.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience building scalable web‑based applications, automation systems, or internal platforms.
- Demonstrated experience designing modular architectures and extensible systems.
- Experience integrating APIs, AI tools, workflow automation platforms, or system orchestration tools.
- Experience working in agile sprint environments.
