Job summary

S&A Law Offices seeks an AI/LLM developer to design and deploy applications using Claude and OpenAI APIs, tailored for legal workflows.

You will build RAG pipelines, vector search, and domain-specific tools for contract review and document summarization within enterprise legal tech.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience developing applications with Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Legal domain experience preferred (law firm, corporate legal dept., or LegalTech).
• Deep expertise with Anthropic Claude (long context, vision, prompt caching) and OpenAI APIs (Assistants API, function calling, embeddings).
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom agentic workflows.
• Hands-on experience with vector search engines and hybrid search architectures.
• REST APIs, FastAPI, microservices, and modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, AI, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• AI & LLM Application Development:
  • Design, build, and deploy custom applications using Claude (Anthropic API) and OpenAI APIs (GPT-4/GPT-4o), tailored for legal workflows.
  • Implement advanced prompt engineering, structured JSON outputs, system instructions, and tool/function calling.
  • Develop conversational assistants, legal document summarizers, and automated contract review tools.
• RAG & Knowledge Retrieval:
  • Build and optimize RAG pipelines to index and query large repositories of legal documents, statutes, case law, and internal law firm knowledge bases.
  • Work with vector databases to enable highly accurate semantic search with precise citation tracking.
• Domain-Specific Customization & Quality Control:
  • Tailor AI models to handle legal terminology, formatting standards, and domain-specific edge cases.
  • Implement rigorous evaluation, benchmarking, and hallucination-mitigation frameworks to ensure high precision, compliance, and reliability required for legal deliverables.
  • Ensure strict data privacy, confidentiality, and enterprise-grade security standards across all AI pipelines.
• Collaboration & Integration:
  • Collaborate with legal teams, partners, and paralegals to translate complex legal requirements into actionable AI features.
  • Integrate AI services into existing legal management tools, practice management systems, or custom firm web applications.
  • Experience developing Autonomous Agents or multi-agent orchestrations for multi-step reasoning tasks.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience developing applications with Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Legal Domain Expertise: Prior experience working within a law firm, corporate legal department, or LegalTech company strongly preferred.
• LLM & API Mastery: Deep expertise with Anthropic Claude (handling long context windows, vision capabilities, prompt caching) and OpenAI APIs (Assistants API, function calling, embeddings).
• Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript / Node.js.
• Frameworks & Orchestration: Experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom agentic workflows.
• Vector Databases & Search: Hands-on experience with vector search engines and hybrid search architectures.
• Backend & Cloud Development: Experience with REST APIs, FastAPI, microservices, and modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Education: Bachelors degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with existing LegalTech solutions (e.g., Harvey, Legora etc.) and document management systems.
• Knowledge of fine-tuning techniques (LoRA, QLoRA) for domain-adapted models.
• Basic understanding of legal privileges, client data handling, and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC 2, ISO).
