Army Invites for Various Technical Graduates Posts

BE/BTech graduates have the opportunity to serve in the Army. Those who have completed their engineering studies and are in their final year are invited to the Technical Graduate Course (TGC) by the Indian Army. The Service Selection Board (SSB) conducts interviews. They provide stipends during the training period. Later, they are commissioned into the ranks with the Lieutenant's commission.

The Technical Graduate Course (TGC) announcement is usually made on the Army website. Unmarried men are eligible for this. Those who are eligible and interested should register details on the Indian Army website. There is no application fee. Based on the marks obtained in BE/BTech, applications are shortlisted. The shortlisted candidates will undergo five days of testing, including cycle tests, group tests, and interviews, at the Selection Board (SSB) office in Bangalore. They appoint them as psychologists, group testing officers, and interviewing officers. Stage-1 screening (intelligence) tests are held every day. Those who qualify for this will be selected for Stage 2. They conduct examinations in various departments, conduct medical examinations for those who pass, and send them for training. Travel expenses for those who attend interviews are reimbursed.

Education: The Indian Military Academy in Dehradun offers approximately one year of training starting January 2025. During this time, a monthly stipend of Rs.56,100 is provided. Successful completion of training leads to a permanent commission with the rank of Lieutenant. Upon entry into service, they receive a salary of Rs.56,100 at Level-10, along with a military service pay of Rs.15,500. DA and other incentives are additional. Starting from the third year, they can be promoted to Captain, Major after seven years of service, and Lieutenant Colonel after thirteen years. These are permanent positions. Retirement age is up to the age of promotion. Later, they can receive pensions for life.

Vacancies: There are vacancies in 30 departments: 7 in Civil, 7 in Mechanical, 7 in Computer Science, 3 in Electrical, 4 in Electronics, and 2 in other departments.

Eligibility: Engineering graduates in specified/related branches, currently in the final year, can apply. Those with MSc (IT) / MCA qualifications can also apply for Computer Science positions. All vacancies are eligible for unmarried men.

Age: Must be between 20 and 27 years old as of January 1, 2025. Those born between January 2, 1998, and January 1, 2005, are eligible.
