Job summary

Tata Steel is seeking a Civil Engineer (BE/B.Tech) to drive the expansion projects across Engineering & Projects locations. You will implement construction schedules, monitor progress, and ensure safety and quality on site.

The role requires reading and interpreting engineering drawings, AutoCAD proficiency, and the ability to prepare bills of quantities and manage resources to meet deadlines. You will coordinate with vendors and stakeholders to ensure timely deliveries.

Qualifications

• Requires BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Civil.
• Strong understanding of civil and structural works, road and industrial buildings.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and execute works accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Plan monthly and daily activities as per approved project timelines.
• Develop infrastructures at site (shelters, toilets, water facilities, roads, canteen, etc.) before main construction.
• Coordinate with stakeholders for timely deliveries of services and materials.
• Identify needs during execution and escalate issues for timely action.
• Ensure mobilization of resources and manage manpower, materials, and equipment at site.
• Ensure construction works comply with timelines and SOPs, QA/QC, and safety standards.
• Interface with customer departments to resolve day-to-day issues and maintain progress.
• Bill vendors timely and maintain records of issued items.
• Collaborate with team and partners to improve productivity and control costs.

Role Description

Minimum Qualification: BE/ B.tech or equivalent in Civil.

To drive the project for completion of ongoing expansion projects across Engineering & Projects locations of Tata Steel Limited. Ensure implementation of strategies to optimise cost, time, quality, ensure safety by following all statutory norms.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning monthly and daily as per approved timeline of the project. Implement construction schedule, work plan, and monitor day to day progress. Prepare progress updates and MIS for management reporting. –
• Ability to develop different infrastructures like rest shelter, toilets, drinking waters, service water, canteen, road, communication system, quality system etc at site prior to start of main construction work. –
• Co-ordination with stakeholders for timely deliveries of services and materials at site. –
• Identification of needs arising during the project executions & escalation of issues for timely actions. - Co-ordinate with vendor partners for defining construction plan & schedule. –
• Ensure timely mobilization of resources at site for project execution. Management of man, material & machine at site. –
• Co-ordinate with necessary stake holders to ensure Construction civil works as per the project timeline.
• Making Risk analysis of site, Ensure implementation of SOPs, Quality assurance plan, Safety rules & standards at site. –
• Interface with customer department for resolution of day-to-day issues and ensure site work progress.
• Billing of vendors timely and accurately, maintaining record of free issue items as per standards.
• Collaborate with team members and business partners to improve productivity, responsibility & accountability to meet the project cost & timeline

Skills

Functional knowledge of construction of Civil & structural works, road, industrial buildings, and Civil enabling jobs. Ability to understand engineering drawings and execute the Civil works at site as per drawings. Should have Knowledge of AutoCAD drawing, ability to develop bill of quantity for work to be done, through knowledge of relevant code of construction, acquainted with quality assurance norms and quality control measures.
