Job summary

Arm's Architecture and Technology Group (ATG) in Bengaluru seeks a verification engineer to develop architecture verification tests and compliance strategies for new features. You will design test scenarios in assembly/C, and contribute to automation and infrastructure to validate CPU behavior across implementations.

Ideal candidates have 3–8 years in CPU/IP verification, strong C/assembly skills, and solid understanding of computer architecture.

Qualifications

• Btech/B.S. or MTech/M.S./PhD in Computer Engineering/CS or Electronics Engineering.
• 3–8 years of engineering experience CPU/sophisticated IP verification.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills for architecture compliance, CPU behavior, and low-level software execution issues.
• Strong understanding of Computer Architecture concepts, including out-of-order CPU execution, caches, memory, etc. ARM A-profile.
• Familiarity with RIS methodologies, RTL designs under test, architecture features, testbench development for verifying RTL using standard verification methodologies.

• Design verification testcases/scenarios in assembly/C/HVL and higher abstraction languages using automation techniques as needed.
• Develop architecture compliance tests using C and assembly to validate CPU behavior, architecture features, low-level execution flows, and system-level compliance scenarios.
• Contribute to automation, debug flows, and reusable compliance test infrastructure for validating architecture specifications across different implementations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and willing to take up additional responsibilities to contribute to the team’s success.

Job description

The Architecture and Technology Group (ATG) at ARM develops technologies and products for ARM’s future architecture roadmap. As part of the evolution of new architecture specifications, modeling is an integral and essential element that enables evaluation of the key architecture features in terms of performance and functionality. The modelling team works alongside the leading architects in their field to develop new models and design performance studies to evaluate and craft new architecture features.

The role also contributes to architecture compliance verification using embedded software-style test development, where CPU architecture knowledge, strong C programming, assembly programming, automation, and low-level debug are used to validate architecture behavior across implementations.

Required Skills And Experience

• Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams to accomplish tasks
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Desire and flexibility to learn a variety of verification especially RIS methodologies, RTL designs under test, architecture features, familiarity with
• testbench development for verifying RTL using any standard verification methodology

Good To Have Skills And Qualifications

• Prior experience verifying micro-architecture of IPs/sub-systems, such CPUs/GPUs, interconnects etc. is a plus.
• Experience with Verilog/System Verilog HDLs, C/C++ is strongly recommended
• Assembly language experience, such as with ARM or x86 is preferred
• Experience with RTL verification using UVM methodology is desired
• Experience with industry standard simulation tools like VCS, Questa is desired.
• Experience with common scripting languages such as Perl or Python
• Experience with developing/reviewing test plans to verify micro-architecture and executing the plan in a predictable manner to meet objectives
• Experience with test generators, toolkits for ARM CPU validation such as Raven/ACK is a plus
• Experience with running and debugging workloads on FPGA platforms or silicon is a bonus
