Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Limited is seeking an EHS professional to facilitate and monitor the implementation of environmental, health, and safety requirements at construction sites in Chennai. You will ensure the EHS Management System is followed and train staff, visitors, and subcontractors on safety practices.

The role involves coordinating with site teams, conducting regular EHS inspections, reporting findings, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.

Qualifications

• Basic qualification: Graduate Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Science
• Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (minimum one-year duration) from State Board of Technical Exam or BOCW Central Rules
• Diploma in Construction Safety Management from NICMAR

Responsibilities

• Facilitate implementation of EHS requirements at the workplace.
• Ensure implementation of the EHS Management System.
• Monitor the performance of EHS Inspectors.
• Identify training needs and conduct EHS training for staff, visitors, subcontractors, and workmen.
• Evaluate compliance with applicable legal requirements.
• Identify and incorporate project-specific legal requirements in Project EHS Plans.
• Conduct periodic site EHS inspections and report findings for corrective action.
• Act as a catalyst for Project EHS Committee activities.
• Review and appraise site EHS performance and drive improvements.
• Ensure proactive EHS performance monitoring through various monitoring systems.
• Prepare and update Project EHS Plans.
• Prepare EHS Risk Assessments and Safe Work Methods.
• Report EHS observations to Project Manager for continual improvement.
• Organize EHS campaigns, competitions, and special emphasis programs.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Analyze incident trends and initiate corrective actions.
• Establish, implement, and maintain emergency preparedness and response procedures at project sites.
