Citigroup is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of complex Java-based delivery within an enterprise environment. You will drive design, development, testing, and production deployment while collaborating with global teams.
You will ensure architecture alignment, write robust unit and integration tests, and mentor junior developers in an Agile/Scrum setting. Strong knowledge of Java, Spring, React, SQL/NoSQL is required.
End-to-End (E2E) Technical Delivery & Development Take end-to-end ownership of complex development deliverables: evaluate business requirements, formulate technical specifications, create detailed designs, and write high-quality, maintainable code.
Drive tasks related to feasibility studies, effort/time estimation, risk assessment, and implementation planning for new product features and system enhancements.
Actively participate in the construction, build, automated testing, and CI/CD deployment pipelines, ensuring features transition smoothly into production for business adoption.
Provide post-implementation monitoring, hypercare, and Level 3 (L3) technical support, ensuring system stability and rapid resolution of operational/functional defects.
Architecture Alignment, Code Quality & Standards Ensure all developed solutions adhere to overall enterprise architecture blueprints, secure coding guidelines, and industry best practices.
Implement robust unit, integration, and contract tests (TDD/BDD) to achieve high test coverage and deliver continuously improved product quality.
Actively participate in peer code reviews, enforce coding and testing standards, and provide constructive feedback to elevate overall codebase quality.
Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimization techniques across Java application services and database queries.
Technical Guidance & Team Collaboration Serve as a technical advisor and mentor to mid-level and junior developers, guiding them on design patterns, framework standards, debugging, and best coding practices.
Collaborate closely with the Technical Lead/Scrum Master, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance (QA) engineers within an Agile/Scrum framework.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on application functionality, integration points, and core capabilities for internal and external technical stakeholders.
Operate with a high degree of autonomy and independent judgment, proactively managing tasks and dependencies with minimal supervision.
Risk Management, Security & Governance Recommend and implement robust security measures and defensive coding practices across APIs, user interfaces, and data persistence layers.
Drive proactive identification and remediation of security vulnerabilities (Snyk, Checkmarx, SonarQube) in accordance with Citi's secure SDLC policies.
Appropriately assess risk when business and technical decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
Adhere to corporate governance, change management procedures, and compliance standards, escalating control issues with transparency.
