Job summary

Citigroup is seeking an Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst in Chennai. You will participate in establishing and implementing new or revised application systems in collaboration with the Technology team.

The role requires deep mainframe experience (CICS, COBOL, DB2, VSAM, Eztrieve, JCL, MQ) with knowledge of J2EE, Microservices, and API development. You will lead feasibility studies, estimates, IT planning, and risk assessment; monitor development phases and provide user support

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of hands-on experience with Mainframe technologies in Wealth management domain.
• Extensive mainframe experience: CICS, COBOL, DB2, VSAM, Eztrieve, JCL, MQ, and Job Scheduler.
• Knowledge of J2EE, Microservices and API development is a plus.
• Strong understanding of Mutual Funds and security brokerage processes.
• Familiarity with Agile processes and configuration management tools like JIRA and GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates, IT planning and risk analysis for new or revised applications.
• Oversee development life cycle: analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation; provide user support.
• Analyze complex problems, evaluate business processes and industry standards to guide solutions.
• Suggest and implement security measures post-implementation to ensure system integrity.
• Consult with users and tech teams; propose advanced programming solutions and assist customers.
• Ensure adherence to operating standards and processes; coach junior analysts.
• Operate with limited supervision and exercise independent judgment as SME to stakeholders.

Job Overview

The Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology, applications development, model development, and establish and implement new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas
• Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users
• Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement
• Recommend and develop security measures in post implementation analysis of business usage to ensure successful system design and functionality
• Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and install and assist customer exposure systems
• Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes
• Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts
• Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
• Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
• Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of relevant experience in Mainframe technologies and knowledge in Wealth management domain
• Extensive experience in mainframe applications in CICS , COBOL,DB2, VSAM, Eztrieve, JCL, MQ, Job Scheduler and etc, , CA Gen
• Knowledgeable and experienced in J2EE, Microservices and API development in any platform is advantage.
• Excellent functional knowledge in Mutual Funds, Security brokerage products process.
• Knowledge in Agile process and Software Configuration management tools such as JIRA , Github
• Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications
• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
• Working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
