Citi is seeking an Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst in Chennai to contribute to new and revised systems. You will collaborate with the Technology team to analyze data, define requirements, and drive governance across data quality, lineage, and mapping tasks.

Responsibilities include advising on solutions, documenting data flows, and coordinating with business users and technology groups to ensure compliant, effective data analytics platforms.

The Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities

• Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts, and basic knowledge of other technical areas to identify and define necessary system enhancements, including using script tools and analyzing/interpreting code
• Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, and recommend programming solutions, install, and support customer exposure systems
• Apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications.
• Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, as well as conduct testing and debugging
• Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts
• Identify problems, analyze information, and make evaluative judgements to recommend and implement solutions
• Resolve issues by identifying and selecting solutions through the applications of acquired technical experience and guided by precedents
• Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
• Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
• Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
• Independently conduct analysis and execute tasks for a broad range of data initiatives, including data requirements, issues management, Data Quality rules, lineage, Data Governance, and taxonomy.
• Develop and articulate business requirements and map current and future state processes.
• Contribute tactically to strategic design and process improvement project implementation across lines of business and functions, collaborating with Technology and Operations.
• Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, and escalating/managing control issues with transparency.
• Work as a Technical Data Analyst on the build-out of a data analytics platform for the Prime Finance business, owning the capture and documentation of clear data requirements using user stories and Confluence.
• Collaborate with business users on requirement gathering, identify systematic sources of data, understand data interlinkages, and grasp any logic or calculations performed on data sets and their use cases.
• Document clear test acceptance criteria for requirements and work with QA to develop test strategies for both data and visualization layers.
• Work closely with development teams to break down requirements and ensure impacts are understood.
• Communicate key project risks, define mitigation strategies, manage resolution, proactively follow escalation and change control processes, and provide regular project updates to business and technology stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in the Financial Service industry
• Intermediate level experience in Applications Development role
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
• Comprehensive understanding of how various business areas integrate to achieve objectives, particularly within Treasury Finance. Experience in Data Governance - Data Quality, Data Lineage, Data Tracing
• Strong investigative and data analysis skills, including intermediate SQL
• Proven experience in building out data visualization reporting platforms. Proficient in the creation of data flow diagrams and documentation for data integration processes.
• Excellent multi-modal communication skills to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences, with demonstrated ability to drive consensus, influence relationships at all levels, and negotiate effectively.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
