Job summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented PL/SQL QA Engineer to join Citi in Pune, India. You will validate backend database logic, data integrity, and ETL/batch processing pipelines, designing and executing comprehensive database test plans and automated SQL/PL-SQL test scripts to ensure high data quality, system stability, and optimal database performance.

You will automate UI and API testing, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines for rapid feedback and defect

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fintech/banking/tech firms.
• Solid experience in PL/SQL development.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
• Familiarity with integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in an agile, cross-functional team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for UI and API layers.
• Collaborate with product owners, developers, and QA engineers to define acceptance criteria and test scenarios.
• Test RESTful APIs using Postman or Swagger to validate data integrity, functionality, and performance.
• Create and maintain automated UI test suites using Selenium WebDriver and Java-based tools.
• Execute functional tests, perform exploratory testing, and document defects with steps to reproduce.
• Improve automation frameworks, tools, and CI/CD integration for rapid feedback.
• Run automated tests, analyze results, and report on coverage and quality metrics.
• Coordinate with DevOps to define test strategies across SDLC stages.
• Promote QA methodologies (TDD/BDD) and best practices; support test documentation standards.

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled PL/SQL QA Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for validating backend database logic, data integrity, and ETL/batch processing pipelines. You will design, develop, and execute comprehensive database test plans and automated SQL/PL-SQL test scripts to ensure high data quality, system stability, and optimal database performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, robust, and efficient automated test scripts and frameworks for both UI and API layers.
• Collaborate with product owners, developers, and other QA engineers to define clear acceptance criteria, user stories, and manual test scenarios.
• Perform testing of RESTful APIs using tools like Postman or Swagger to validate data integrity, functionality, and performance.
• Create and maintain automated UI test suites using Selenium WebDriver and other Java/UI-based automation tools to validate user interfaces and end-to-end user flows.
• Execute functional test suites, perform exploratory testing, identify and document defects with clear steps to reproduce, and track them through to resolution.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of automation frameworks, tools, and processes, ensuring reusability, maintainability, and efficiency.
• Integrate automated tests into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to enable rapid feedback and early defect detection.
• Execute automated test suites, analyze results, identify defects, and report on test coverage and quality metrics.
• Work closely with development, product management, and DevOps teams to understand requirements, define test strategies, and ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA methodologies and processes, and test documentation standards to ensure high efficiency and coverage.
• Share knowledge and promote best practices in automation testing, including test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD).
• Assist in troubleshooting production issues by leveraging testing expertise and collaborating with development teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience (5+ years) in fintech/banking/ tech firms
• Solid experience in pl/sql development
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
• Familiarity with integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in an agile, cross-functional team environment.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with other programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for automation.
• Knowledge of performance testing and security testing principles.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Openshift, AWS).
• Understanding of microservices architecture and testing strategies for distributed systems.
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, Zephyr).
