Role Summary

The Application Engineer III is responsible for the design, development, integration, and implementation of scalable full-stack applications and cloud-based solutions. The role requires strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, AWS, modern front-end technologies, APIs, databases, CI/CD, and application observability, with working knowledge of Python to support modernization initiatives. The engineer will contribute across the application lifecycle, including solution design, development, testing, deployment, production support, performance optimization, security, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced-level analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of scalable applications and services.
• Design and develop robust backend solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, JPA, Node.js, and NestJS.
• Develop and integrate APIs and distributed services using REST, GraphQL, and Apollo Federation, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
• Build and support modern front-end applications using TypeScript, React, Angular, Single-SPA micro-frontends, HTML5, and SCSS.
• Design, develop, and deploy cloud-based solutions on AWS, leveraging appropriate compute, storage, integration, messaging, and monitoring services.
• Integrate applications with relational, NoSQL, caching, and messaging platforms while ensuring reliable and efficient data flow.
• Implement application security and access controls using technologies such as OAuth 2.0, Spring Security, IAM, and Kong.
• Develop automated unit and integration tests and contribute to high-quality engineering practices using Jest, React Testing Library, Jasmine, JUnit 5, and Mockito.
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD processes using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, Gradle, and Maven and support deployments across application environments.
• Monitor application health and troubleshoot performance and production issues using Honeycomb, Splunk, AWS CloudWatch, dashboards, and alerting, while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams and mentoring less-experienced developers.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, system integration, database design, and back-end architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in relevant fields such as Computer Science, or a Master’s degree/Diploma in Computer Science.
• Strong expertise in Java is required, with hands‑on experience in Spring Boot, Spring Security, JPA, and enterprise application development.
• Strong AWS experience is required, including experience with services such as ECS, EC2, ALB, Route 53, Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, Kinesis, SNS, SQS, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch.
• Azure exposure is beneficial but not required.
• Working knowledge of Python, particularly for application modernization, automation, or integration use cases.
• Experience with modern front-end development using TypeScript, React, Angular, Single-SPA, HTML5, and SCSS.
• Experience with Node.js, NestJS, REST APIs, GraphQL, and Apollo Federation, including API integration and distributed application architectures.
• Experience with data and messaging technologies such as DB2, Aurora, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Apache Kafka, and Qlik.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing frameworks including Jest, React Testing Library, Jasmine, JUnit 5, and Mockito, along with CI/CD and container technologies including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, Gradle, and Maven.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, Spring Security, Kong, application security practices, and observability solutions such as Honeycomb, Splunk, and AWS CloudWatch.
• Familiarity with development and collaboration tools such as Jira, IntelliJ IDEA, Spring Tool Suite (STS), VS Code, Xcode, and Azure DevOps, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
