Qualifications

Role Summary

This role provides advanced-level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases under general direction, and leads backend optimization, data integration, documentation, and secure, scalable architecture aligned with enterprise standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the analysis, design, development, implementation, and support of complex applications, services, and databases. Develop scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions while integrating third-party products and enterprise platforms to meet business and technology objectives.
• Translate business and technical requirements into high-quality software solutions for new development and enhancement initiatives. Design, develop, test, and deploy application components utilizing modern software engineering practices, with a strong emphasis on automation, code quality, reusability, and maintainability.
• Manage the promotion of code through development, testing, and production environments in accordance with established deployment processes and schedules. Provide post-implementation support, troubleshoot production issues, coordinate change management activities, and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Demonstrate deep knowledge of software development methodologies, engineering best practices, and architectural standards. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers, promote knowledge sharing across the team, and assist in resolving complex technical challenges and escalating issues.
• Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, code reviews, and testing activities throughout the development lifecycle to identify risks, ensure solution quality, and drive continuous improvement. Conduct systems analysis and effectively communicate technical considerations, trade-offs, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Develop a strong understanding of business processes, client needs, and operational workflows. Leverage knowledge of Vanguard's technology ecosystem, applications, and integrated platforms to deliver solutions that align technology investments with business priorities and strategic objectives.
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, Engineers, QA partners, and business stakeholders to deliver business value. Communicate technical concepts, project status, and system impacts effectively to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
• Ensure all solutions adhere to Information Technology, Information Security, Risk Management, and Regulatory Compliance standards. Incorporate secure coding practices, architectural guidelines, and operational controls into all phases of development while validating that deliverables meet established requirements and governance expectations.
• Contribute to ongoing modernization efforts, operational excellence initiatives, and strategic technology programs. Support a portfolio of enterprise applications through a combination of maintenance, enhancements, problem resolution, and innovation opportunities while participating in special projects and additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications And Skills

• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, system integration, database design, and back-end architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in relevant fields such as Computer Science, or a Master’s degree/Diploma in Computer Science.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of Agile, Confluence, JIRA; aptitude for continuous process improvement for process flows/workflows.
• Expertise in UI Development, server-side development, system integration, and API management; optimization, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Experience building modern web applications using front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar technologies.
• Experience developing backend APIs and services using Java, Spring Boot, Python, Node.js, or related technologies.
• Must-have skills: Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Node JS, AWS, CloudFormation, ECS, Fargate, DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, IAM, SNS, SQS, Glue, Step Functions, Athena, SQL queries, GitHub, CI/CD, TDD/BDD, Splunk, Honeycomb, PySpark, CloudWatch.
• Experience with microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Proficiency in AWS technologies: CloudFormation, S3, ECS, IAM, DynamoDB, Lambda, SNS, SQS, Glue, Step functions, Athena, PySpark and CloudWatch
• Proficiency in DevOps concepts, tools and continuous delivery pipelines, specifically Git and GitHub
• Proficiency in GenAI tools. Example: Claude Code, Copilot Agent
• Preferred Certifications - AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Solution Consultant, Databricks
• A quality first mindset, with experience building reliable, scalable, and observable systems
