Job summary

Citi in Pune, India is seeking an experienced Applications Developer to design and optimize data-driven applications using Core Java, Spark, and related Big Data technologies. This role focuses on delivering scalable, secure software that meets complex business needs.

The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, rigorous code reviews, and performance tuning, with mentorship for junior analysts and adherence to firm policies and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Extensive development experience with Core Java and Spark.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle DB, SQL and data processing.
• Experience in high-scale data platforms and big data techs.
• Hands-on with Unix shell scripting and version control tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies, time/cost estimates, IT planning and develop applications to meet business needs.
• Monitor all phases of development, from design to testing and implementation, and provide user support.
• Apply advanced programming solutions and advise stakeholders on systems design.
• Ensure compliance with firm policies, risk controls and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with users and other tech groups to implement secure, scalable systems.
• Coach junior analysts and operate with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology, applications development, model development, and establish and implement new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas
• Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users
• Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement
• Recommend and develop security measures in post implementation analysis of business usage to ensure successful system design and functionality
• Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and install and assist customer exposure systems
• Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes
• Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts
• Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
• Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
• Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of relevant experience using Core Java, Spark, Big Data Technologies HDFC, Hive etc.
• Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications
• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
• Working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive development expertise in building the high scaled and performant software platforms for data computation and processing.
• Experience in software development with a strong focus on Core Java and Spark.
• Expert level knowledge of core Java concepts and framework such as Spring Boot, Microservices and well versed with OOPs concepts and design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark (with Java)
• Experience with caching solutions like Pinot, Redis etc.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle DB, including schema design and query optimization.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, databases, and operating systems.
• Highly experienced with Unix based operating systems and shell scripting.
• Hands-on experience in writing SQL queries.
• Experience with source code management tools such as Bitbucket, Git etc.
• Experience working with banking domain like pricing, risk etc. is plus.
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
