Job summary

Citi in Pune, India is seeking an experienced Sybase ASE and Application DBA to design, optimize, and support database objects and performance at the application layer. The role collaborates with development and infrastructure teams to ensure scalable data models and reliable operations.

8–12 years of relevant experience, strong T-SQL skills, and familiarity with monitoring tools are required. You will participate in deployments, schema changes, and automation tasks to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• 8 to 12 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects.
• Ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects.
• Experience with dependency management, change management, continuous integration testing tools, and audit/compliance requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of software engineering and databases.
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.

• Perform application-level DBA activities including performance tuning, query optimization, and index management
• Collaborate with application teams to support database design and data modelling
• Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues at the application layer
• Manage database connections, locking, and blocking analysis
• Support release deployments and schema changes in non-production and production environments

Required Skills

• Strong Sybase ASE development experience (T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers)
• Application DBA experience — performance tuning, execution plans, lock management
• Familiarity with sysprocesses, monitoring, and MDADB reporting
• Ability to work closely with development and infrastructure teams
• Experience with scripting (Shell/Python) for automation is a plus
