Opella is seeking an API Enablement Engineer in Hyderabad to lead API-first initiatives and shape an enterprise API catalog. You will collaborate with SAP Integration Suite and Kong API Management to drive reusable digital capabilities and enable AI-ready integrations.

The role blends hands-on integration with API strategy, contributing to Opella’s long-term API-led integration and AI roadmap while working in a globally distributed team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in Enterprise Integration, API Management or Solution Engineering.
• Experience implementing API-led integration strategies.
• Experience working in enterprise integration environments.
• Experience with API governance and lifecycle management is highly desirable.

About the Role

APIs are strategic digital assets that enable business capabilities, accelerate system integration, and increasingly serve as the foundation for AI-powered applications.

As a API Enablement Engineer within the Integration Delivery team, you will drive the adoption of an API-first culture across Opella by improving API discoverability, governance, reuse and developer experience.

Working with Kong API Management, SAP Integration Suite and enterprise application teams, you will identify reusable business capabilities, curate a comprehensive enterprise API catalog, and help transform APIs into reusable digital products that can be consumed by both applications and AI agents via MCP capabilities.

This role combines hands-on integration expertise with API strategy and enablement, contributing to Opella’s long-term API-led integration and AI roadmap.

Experience

• 8+ years of professional experience in Enterprise Integration, API Management or Solution Engineering.
• Experience implementing API-led integration strategies.
• Experience working in enterprise integration environments.

Key Responsibilities

API Enablement

• Drive the adoption of API-first and API-led integration practices across the organization.
• Work jointly with EA to Identify reusable business capabilities that should be exposed as enterprise APIs.
• Build and maintain an enterprise API catalog to improve API discoverability and reuse.
• Promote API product thinking across delivery teams.
• Co-work with architects to define API publishing standards, documentation guidelines, and lifecycle management practices.
• Collaborate with development teams to maximize API reuse before creating new APIs.
• Define metrics to measure API adoption, reuse and business value.

API Platform

• Support and continuously improve Opella’s Kong API Management platform.
• Contribute to API governance, versioning and security standards.
• Improve developer onboarding and API consumer experience.
• Collaborate with architects to define enterprise API standards.

AI & Innovation

• Prepare APIs to be easily consumable by AI agents through standardized metadata and documentation.
• Support the adoption of Model Context Protocol (MCP) concepts to expose enterprise capabilities to AI assistants.
• Collaborate with GenAI initiatives to identify business capabilities that can be leveraged through APIs.
• Explore AI-assisted approaches to API discovery, documentation and governance.

Integration Delivery

• Design and implement API-led integration solutions.
• Contribute to SAP Integration Suite implementations with a focus on APIs.
• Participate in architecture reviews and solution design.
• Develop reusable integration assets and API templates.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Community & Enablement

• Evangelize API-first principles across business and IT teams.
• Deliver knowledge-sharing sessions and technical guidance.
• Coach project teams on API design best practices.
• Promote reuse through a well-governed API ecosystem.
