Role Overview
This is a crucial role responsible for ensuring correct and timely payments to vendors and maintaining a high level of financial hygiene in the books of accounts. The candidate will actively participate in the period‑end closing process and must ensure adherence to accounting internal controls and financial processes. They will respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process, including processing invoices for booking, recording tax, assisting with bank reconciliations, and documenting foreign payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure correct and timely payments to the vendors – both domestic and import.
- Guarantee 100% invoice verification / validation and correct accounting in the ERP systems on a First Time Right basis.
- Match invoices with GRN and PO.
- Correctly deduct TDS & book GST.
- Achieve 95%+ invoice processing and payment efficiency every period.
- Frequent stakeholder connections to resolve payment issues and queries.
- Work closely with the Treasury team to ensure timely payments.
- Efficiently resolve bank queries related to import payments.
Business Performance Improvement and Governance & Controls
- Set, review and streamline the P2P processes to improve governance, internal controls and drive productivity.
- Maintain a high level of accounting hygiene in AP ledgers through frequent reviews and user engagement.
- Use AP data analytics to drive invoice consolidation and influence working capital delivery.
- Handle AP/treasury functions for multiple entities, including group, subsidiary and associate companies, ensuring proper consolidation and compliance.
- Ensure timely vendor reconciliations (including inter‑company).
- Prepare weekly bank reconciliations.
- Facilitate and support open purchase order reviews.
- Review vendor creation documents for system audit and keep records matching the ERP.
- Continuously improve the efficiency of the P2P process, leading initiatives.
- Execute the automation agenda, including process conceptualization.
Period End Closing and Internal Controls and Statutory Audit
- Ensure strict adherence to the period‑end calendar requirements and timelines.
- Prepare and analyze cash flow (NCFO) related to AP ledgers and submit to the Financial Controller.
- Prepare and review P2P period‑end balance sheet schedules, ensuring timely and effective closure of review action points.
- Resolve observations and queries in a timely manner.
- Prepare P2P schedules in accordance with Indian accounting standards / Ind AS for statutory audit.
- Participate actively in the execution and completion of the statutory audit.
- Perform other reviews and analyses as required to understand financial balances and drive financial hygiene.
- Develop and maintain a filing system for financial information, records, and documents to ensure easy availability.
Required Qualifications
- B.com/M.com/CA Inter or equivalent.
- Complete knowledge of Procure to Pay Process with 6+ years of experience.
- Expertise in MS Office (especially Excel, including advanced functions).
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., D365) and advanced Excel.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
