Job summary

ULOOK seeks an Antenna Design Engineer to lead design, simulation and validation of advanced antenna systems for spaceborne and terrestrial RF applications. You will take concepts from EM simulation through hardware integration and test range characterization.

You will collaborate with cross-functional RF, mechanical and systems teams to deliver compact, ultra-efficient antenna solutions capable of withstanding extreme environments while meeting SWaP constraints.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Communications, RF/Microwave Engineering or related field.
  • 4–6 years of hands-on antenna design, EM simulation and lab testing.
  • Advanced proficiency with 3D EM software such as ANSYS HFSS, CST, FEKO.
  • Strong fundamentals in EM theory, transmission lines, Smith chart, antenna metrics.
  • Experience operating VNAs, analyzers and anechoic test ranges.
  • Solid understanding of RF PCB design rules and board-level integration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate and optimize antennas (single-element, array, wideband).
  • Run high-fidelity EM simulations to optimize gain, pattern, bandwidth and isolation.
  • Architect multi-polarization topologies and matching networks.
  • Characterize performance using VNAs, near-field/far-field tests and chambers.
  • Integrate antenna systems with RF front-end while managing mutual coupling and EMI/EMC.
  • Collaborate with RF, mechanical and systems teams to meet SWaP constraints.
  • Generate technical docs, simulation and test procedures for design reviews.

Job description

ULOOK is seeking an Antenna Design Engineer to lead the design, simulation and validation of high-performance antenna systems for next-generation spaceborne and terrestrial RF applications. In this role, you will take advanced antenna concepts from electromagnetic simulation through hardware integration and test range characterization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional RF, mechanical and systems teams to deliver compact, ultra-efficient antenna solutions built for extreme environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, simulate and optimize custom single-element, array and wideband antennas (microstrip patch, aperture-coupled, cavity-backed spiral, horn, slot and planar architectures).
  • Execute high-fidelity EM simulations using ANSYS HFSS, CST or FEKO to optimize gain, efficiency, radiation pattern, axial ratio, bandwidth and isolation.
  • Architect multi-polarization topologies including linear, dual-linear and dual circular polarization and design matching networks, feeds and power splitters.
  • Characterize antenna performance using VNAs, anechoic chambers and near-field/far-field measurement systems (S-parameters, VSWR, gain, radiation patterns, ECC).
  • Integrate antenna systems with RF front-end while minimizing mutual coupling, EMI/EMC issues and thermal/environmental detuning.
  • Provide critical input on RF PCB stack-ups, component placement, grounding, shielding and trace impedance control.
  • Troubleshoot complex RF/antenna performance anomalies during prototype testing and integration.
  • Collaborate with RF, mechanical and systems teams to meet tight SWaP constraints.
  • Generate technical documentation, simulation and test procedures to support design reviews.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Communication, RF/Microwave Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4–6 years of hands-on experience in antenna design, EM simulation and laboratory testing.
  • Advanced proficiency with industry-standard 3D EM software (ANSYS HFSS, CST etc.).
  • Strong foundation in electromagnetic theory, transmission lines, Smith Chart analysis and antenna metrics (gain, efficiency, axial ratio, return loss).
  • Demonstrated experience operating VNAs, analyzers and anechoic test ranges.
  • Solid understanding of RF PCB design rules, microstrip/strip line layout and board-level integration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters in RF, Microwave or Electromagnetics.
  • Direct experience with space-grade antenna design, satellite payloads, defense platforms or radar systems.
  • Experience with phased arrays, beamforming, MIMO systems, or ultra-wideband (UWB) cavity-backed antennas.
  • Familiarity with RF front-end components (LNAs, Power Amplifiers, duplexers, filters) and system-level EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB or Python for automated measurement control and post-processing of simulation data.
