Responsibilities

• Preoperative evaluation and anesthesia planning with consent.
• Administer anesthesia and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Oversee PACU recovery and manage pain and nausea.
• Stabilize critically ill patients in ICU and manage pain.
• Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams; maintain records; supervise juniors.

Key Responsibilities

• Preoperative Care:
  
  
  
  • Evaluate patient history, current health, and surgical plan to create a tailored anesthesia plan.
  
  
  • Discuss risks and benefits with patients/guardians, obtaining consent.
  
  
  
  


• Intraoperative Care (During Surgery):
  
  
  
  • Administer specific types and dosages of anesthesia.
  
  
  • Continuously monitor vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygenation).
  
  
  • Adjust anesthesia levels and manage emergencies to ensure patient comfort and safety.
  
  
  
  


• Postoperative Care:
  
  
  
  • Oversee recovery from anesthesia in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  
  
  • Manage pain, nausea, and other complications using analgesics, nerve blocks, etc..
  
  
  • Monitor hemodynamic stability, airway, and consciousness.
  
  
  
  


• Critical Care & Pain Management:
  
  
  
  • Stabilize critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units (ICU).
  
  
  • Manage acute, chronic, and cancer pain.
  
  
  
  


• Leadership & Documentation:
  
  
  
  • Collaborate with surgical and nursing teams.
  
  
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  
  
  • Supervise junior doctors and participate in quality improvement and governance.
