As an Android Build and Release Engineer or Manager automates, manages, and streamlines the software delivery lifecycle for mobile applications. They bridge the gap between software development, quality assurance (QA), and app store deployment to ensure stable Android application packages (APKs or AABs) reach users smoothly.
Build Pipeline Management: Build, maintain, and optimize Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for Android using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
Release Orchestration: Manage code branching strategies, versioning, and release candidate promotions.
App Store Deployment: Handle end-to-end distribution via the Google Play Console, managing internal testing tracks, closed betas, and staged production
Technical Stack: Strong knowledge of Gradle build systems,Android App Bundles (AAB), APK signing configurations, and key stores.
CI/CD Tools: Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Git, Gerrit, GitHub Actions, or GitLab.
Automation Tools: Proficiency in Fastlane for automating mobile release and deployment tasks.
Scripting Languages: Working knowledge of Python, Ruby, or Bash scripting.
Experience: 4-8 years focusing on mobile configuration management, build engineering, or mobile DevOps.
