Job summary

Wise is seeking a Senior Analytics Manager to partner with financial crime product teams to drive data-driven growth while strengthening controls. You’ll balance user experience with risk prevention within the APAC Risk & Controls team, implementing scalable analytics and collaborating with product managers, data scientists and engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong quantitative skills with a background in statistics, maths, physics, engineering, or related field.
• Experience in financial crime domain with typologies and alert investigations.
• 5+ years of data analytics experience in financial crime or risk analytics and 2+ years leading others.
• Experience with SQL and Python/R.
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions.
• Ability to structure business problems with minimal supervision and simplify complex systems into data models.
• Hustler mentality and ability to drive tasks beyond analysis.
• Experience with data visualization tools and storytelling with data.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Analytics manager who is passionate about our mission of Money Without Borders to partner with our financial crime product teams to help drive data-driven and innovative growth decisions while helping to combat financial crime.

Our mission within the Risk & Controls team in APAC is to stay one step ahead of emerging risk while ensuring that our customers enjoy a seamless experience. In this vital role, you will innovate and implement controls that enhance security without compromising user convenience.

Most importantly, you’ll collaborate closely with your product managers, designers, data scientists and engineers to bring your insights into real change for our customers and help drive our mission!

Your mission:

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Financial Crime team:

• You’ll expose the vast data on our processes to the product teams across Wise in a meaningful and actionable way in which people can proactively access the information without friction or need for analyst assistance
• Proactively contribute to, own, create, track key metrics and results for your product and operational teams, keeping them accountable throughout the quarter
• Support stakeholders by conducting research, preparing reports, and visualisations
• Work with data scientists in understanding and developing the means for detecting and mitigating financial crime
• Building the framework for managing risk and customer experience at scale
• Drive the discovery phase by scoping new opportunities and suggesting features, rules and models to combat emerging risks
• The role requires collaboration with Product, Data Scientists, Engineering and Operations Team

Qualifications

A bit about you:

• You have strong quantitative skills. Ideally a background in statistics, maths, physics, engineering, or other scientific area
• You have experience in financial crime domain (typologies and alert investigations) balancing risk and customer experience
• You have 5+ years of experience in data analytics (in financial crime or risk analytics) and 2+ years leading others (can be overlapping)
• You have experience with SQL and Python/R
• You have strong communication skills and an ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions
• You have an ability to structure business problems with minimal supervision and an ability to prioritise problems independently, as well as condense complex systems/ideas into simple-to-understand data models
• Hustler-mentality. You can take work beyond the analysis and get things done
• You have experience with data visualisation tools (Looker, PowerBI, Tableau etc.) and demonstrate storytelling ability with data

Some extra skills that are great (but not essential):

• Experience with user-facing products and data
• Machine learning experience
• Knowledge of regulations, sanctions compliance, and financial crime frameworks
• Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and compliance standards
• Knowledge of A/B testing
