Job summary

AstraZeneca GmbH in Chennai is seeking an Analyst - PowerBI Developer to build enterprise-grade Power BI solutions across markets. You will own end-to-end delivery from requirements to production support, optimize semantic models, and mentor others in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 4-6 years in BI, deep Power BI, SQL, and DAX skills, and ability to collaborate with data engineers, governance teams, and business users. Hybrid work with regular office presence is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 4–6 years of experience in BI, reporting, analytics, or data management with at least 4 years delivering Power BI solutions.
• Advanced proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Service including semantic models, workspaces, apps, deployment pipelines, gateways, scheduled/incremental refresh, and RLS.
• Expertise in DAX, Power Query, dimensional modelling, star schemas and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities:

• Solution Ownership: Lead the design, development, deployment, and support of secure, scalable, high-performing Power BI solutions that turn commercial and omnichannel data into actionable insight.

• Semantic Modelling and Performance: Build and optimise star-schema models, calculations, and DAX to deliver fast, reliable analytics at enterprise scale.

• Engineering Standards and Reuse: Define and promote standards, templates, and automation to increase consistency, reduce cycle time, and improve maintainability across reports and models.

• Data Quality and Governance: Ensure accuracy, accessibility, and actionability through rigorous source-to-report reconciliation, row-level security, lineage tracking, and regulated dissemination procedures.

• Stakeholder Partnership: Serve as a trusted technical advisor to business users, analysts, data engineers, governance teams, and delivery partners, translating objectives into technical designs with clear trade-offs.

• Mentoring and Reviews: Coach developers, lead design and code reviews, and cultivate a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

• Operational Excellence: Manage delivery workflows, gateways, and refresh strategies; diagnose and resolve issues related to reports, models, and security throughout the entire flow to keep solutions reliable.

• Agile Delivery: Estimate work, manage dependencies and risks, run UAT, and deliver several projects simultaneously in Agile or Scrum environments.

• Omnichannel Insight Enablement: Interpret campaign and channel metrics to generate insights that improve customer engagement and commercial impact across markets.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• 4- 6 years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, analytics, or data management, with at least 4years of hands-on Power BI solution delivery.

• Advanced proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including semantic models, workspaces, apps, deployment pipelines, gateways, scheduled and incremental refresh, and row-level security.

• Expertise in DAX, Power Query, dimensional modelling, star schemas, calculation design, and performance optimisation for large or complex data models.

• Strong SQL skills and experience integrating data from relational databases, cloud data platforms, APIs, files, and enterprise applications.

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot report, model, refresh, gateway, security, and data-quality issues across the end-to-end reporting flow.

• Experience with requirements elicitation, technical design, estimation, documentation, testing, source-to-report reconciliation, UAT, deployment, and production support.

• Understanding of enterprise data governance, information security, access controls, data lineage, quality management, and controlled release practices.

• Proven experience leading technical discussions, reviewing builds and code, mentoring developers, and influencing collaborators without direct authority.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritisation, and communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Experience delivering multiple initiatives in parallel within Agile or Scrum teams, including risk management, dependency management, and continuous improvement.

• Knowledge of omnichannel, commercial, or digital marketing analytics and experience translating campaign and channel metrics into actionable insights.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or another highly regulated industry, particularly commercial or omnichannel reporting.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, Databricks, Snowflake, or comparable cloud analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, Performance Analyzer, source control, CI/CD, Power Automate, REST APIs, or scripting for administration and automation.
• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) or a relevant Microsoft Fabric certification.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or Jira, Agile delivery, technical documentation, and structured knowledge transfer.
