When you join the Institutional Portfolio Operations (IPO) team as an Analyst, you join a tight‑knit, energetic, and social group of individuals who directly impact the investment success of institutional clients, including pension funds, foundations, endowments, First Nations, and others. The Institutional Portfolio Operations Analyst is a critical part of our firm and clients’ success, offering a challenging and rewarding role that provides exposure to the inner workings of the asset‑management world.
What You Will Do
- Reconcile various items, including cash, transactions, holdings, futures, derivative products, dividends, soft dollars, units, and alternative investments.
- Communicate with custodians, prime brokers, portfolio managers, and key personnel across CC&L to investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.
- Communicate critical portfolio information and oversee the flow of sensitive information for all CC&L affiliates.
- Work with auditors to assist in providing accurate and timely data for audits of our institutional client accounts.
- Coordinate with custodians and prime brokers to set up daily delivery of external files for reconciliation purposes and resolve data‑related issues.
- Participate in operational projects focused on automation, efficiency, and scalability of IPO services.
What You Will Bring
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with a genuine interest in the investment industry and at least 3 years of experience in an institutional investment firm, bank, or trust company focusing on investment operations and reconciliations.
- Strong collaborative communication skills, able to articulate clearly in both verbal and written form and work well with others to resolve complex issues.
- Inquisitive mind, capable of thinking rationally and solving problems effectively, with demonstrated experience in process‑improvement initiatives, development, and automation.
- Critical thinking ability, proven at problem solving in situations with incomplete information, strong analytical skills, and the ability to diagnose and develop solutions.
- Curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, learning quickly and taking responsibility for own learning and development.
