Job summary

HARMAN International in Bengaluru, India, is seeking an experienced General Ledger Accountant to manage daily accounting activities, close processes, and ensure compliance across US GAAP and IFRS. You will work with global teams, post journal entries, and support audits.

The role requires 6–8 years of GL accounting experience, strong Excel and SAP skills, and clear English communication. A hybrid office setup is expected with occasional international travel.

Qualifications

• 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in General Ledger Accounting.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal.
• Enthusiastic self-starter with good communication.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Experience with SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries and month-end closing.
• Prepare and post journal entries for close processes including accruals and reclassifications.
• Reconcile GL accounts, cost centers, and project/WBS elements in SAP.
• Coordinate with AR for credit invoices and calculate rebates and royalties.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and aging analysis.
• Ensure internal controls and policy compliance; support audits.

What You’ll Be Part Of

The role will be responsible for performing accounting activities, providing guidance to team members, and working closely with the line manager to ensure smooth service delivery. Responsibilities include daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries, month‑end closing, reporting, account reconciliations, and supporting compliance and audit activities.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Work independently on daily accounting activities, collaborate with global teams across all HARMAN businesses, and provide backup support to team members as required.
• Prepare and post journal entries for month‑end closing, including accruals, provisions, reserves, recharges, and reclassifications.
• Reconcile key General Ledger (GL) accounts, maintain GL accounts, cost centers, and WBS elements in SAP, and monitor AUC accounts for timely capitalization.
• Calculate rebates, commissions, and royalties, and coordinate with Accounts Receivable (AR) for raising credit invoices.
• Perform Balance Sheet reconciliations using standard templates, prepare aging analysis, identify open items, and follow up with stakeholders to ensure timely closure.
• Review and update control documents periodically, ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, and maintain zero deficiencies.
• Collaborate with the line manager and relevant stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and support internal and external audit requirements.

What Makes You A Strong Fit

• 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in General Ledger Accounting.
• Strong accounting knowledge with a good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal.
• Enthusiastic self‑starter and quick learner with excellent communication skills.
• Excellent MS Office Suite skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with stakeholders and colleagues.
• We see AI as an important part of how work gets done. While tools may vary, a baseline familiarity with using AI to support efficiency, problem‑solving, and quality is expected.

Bonus Points if You Have

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Master’s degree or higher accounting qualification, which would be a distinct advantage.
• Good knowledge and experience working with SAP.
• Prior experience working in the shared services / BPO industry.
