Job summary

METRO Global Solution Center seeks a Sr. ESG Analyst to strengthen ESG reporting and data governance across METRO's global operations. You will partner with Sustainability Controlling and contribute as a subject matter expert on ESG data, metrics, and stakeholder communications.

You will drive data quality, manage multi-stakeholder inputs, and prepare materials for internal and external audiences, including investors and NGOs, while growing into a recognized ESG SME within the organization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of ESG analysis or CSR related experience.
• Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks (GRI, CSRD, SASB, TCFD, CDP).
• Proficient in data analysis using SQL, Excel and BI tools.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure data accuracy and quality for ESG emissions calculations across entities.
• Collect, transform and report ESG data for pre-closing, closing and wrap-up activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve ESG systems and processes.
• Lead onboarding of new colleagues and entities into the ESG framework.
• Prepare ESG reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Respond to ad-hoc ESG requests and disclosures.
• Drive process improvements as a sustainability SME.

Metro Global Solution Center (MGSC) is internal solution partner for METRO, a €31.6 Billion international wholesaler with operations in more than 30 countries. The store network comprises a total of 623 stores in 21 countries, of which 522 offer out-of-store delivery (OOS), and 94 dedicated depots. In 12 countries, METRO runs only the delivery business by its delivery companies (Food Service Distribution, FSD). HoReCa and Traders are core customer groups of METRO. The HoReCa section includes hotels, restaurants, catering companies as well as bars, cafés and canteen operators. The Traders section includes small grocery stores and kiosks. Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. ESG Analyst to join our Sustainability Reporting team. In this role, you will play a key part in evaluating and monitoring the company’s ESG performance. Your primary focus will be to foster and strengthen the ESG Community, ensure the highest data quality, and act as the right hand to METRO AG Sustainability Controlling. Over time, you will also develop into a recognized ESG Subject Matter Expert within the organization.

Key Responsibilities (in Order Of Priority)

• Ensure data accuracy and quality to deliver reliable emissions calculations across all entities and KPIs.
• Collect, transform, and report ESG data from multiple stakeholders, including preparation for pre-closing, closing, and wrap-up activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather ESG data, assess performance, and enhance ESG systems and processes.
• Lead and support the onboarding of new colleagues and entities into the ESG reporting framework.
• Prepare ESG reports, presentations, and communication materials for internal and external stakeholders, including investors, customers, employees, and NGOs.
• Respond to ad-hoc ESG-related requests and disclosures from stakeholders.
• Drive process improvements and contribute as a sustainability management subject matter expert.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, Sustainability, Finance, Business, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
• 3+ years of experience in ESG analysis, sustainability consulting, corporate social responsibility (CSR), or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of ESG principles, frameworks, and reporting standards (e.g., GRI, CSRD, SASB, TCFD, CDP).
• Proficiency in data analysis with hands-on experience using ESG databases, SQL, advanced MS Excel, and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• Excellent analytical, research, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex ESG information and provide actionable insights.
• Proven experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ESG issues and solutions to diverse audiences.
• A self‑starter with a proactive, results‑oriented mindset, capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
