Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in RPG, DB2 and IBM i (AS/400).
  • Experience with SQL and database design.
  • Experience using testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns and algorithms.
  • Experience with medium to large-scale systems and modern software architectures.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GIT, Bitbucket or equivalent).
  • Understanding of SDLC and development methodologies (Kanban, Scrum).
  • Strong initiative, client delivery focus and communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new functionality for FNZ clients in collaboration with Architects and Developers.
  • Architect and implement REST APIs and trading architecture.
  • Participate in product demos for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform code reviews and develop unit tests to meet quality gates.
  • Diagnose, fix and support issues in coordination with clients.
  • Promote best practices and contribute to delivery planning and progress reporting.
  • Mentor junior developers and support process improvements.
  • Maintain clear written and verbal communications documenting solutions.

Job description

Role Description

As an RPG Analyst Developer, you will be responsible for the technical design and implementation of the FNZ products. You will work in a self-organized Delivery Team that takes care of developing applications from the initial design phase to the final release. You will interact with people in our different offices around the world and with different expertise. We strongly believe in teamwork and your team is responsible for the quality of the product it delivers.

Specific Role Responsibilities
  • Work closely with a Solution Architect and other Developers and Testers, to design and implement new functionality for our Clients
  • Architecture, design, and implementation of items such as REST APIs and Trading architecture
  • Participate in demos of the product to internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform code reviews for other Developers
  • Develop unit tests to ensure required quality gateways are met
  • Investigate, diagnose and fix support issues, and working closely with Clients to ensure successful resolution
  • Execute best practices for software development
  • Strict adherence to agreed standards and SDLC processes
  • Produce development estimates which contribute to overall delivery estimates
  • Help support your Delivery Manager in the technical planning of delivery projects
  • Take an active role in understanding the business domain and contributing to requirements gathering as required
  • Assist in the preparation and documentation of software requirements and specifications
  • Delivery of agreed quality outputs within agreed timeframes
  • Work with the Analyst Testers to ensure they have an understanding of solutions and testing requirements
  • Actively communicating the status of assigned items of work to the Delivery Team
  • Actively identifying and promoting opportunities for application efficiency improvements or performance improvements
  • Work effectively and continue improving business knowledge and programming skills
  • Be an active member of the development community within FNZ, contributing to team sessions and sharing best practice and lessons learnt
  • Help mentor more junior members of the development team
  • Support process improvement initiatives and identify new process improvements
  • Maintain high standards regarding written and verbal communication to ensure that information is clearly and concisely documented and appropriately disseminated
Essential requirements
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in RPG, DB2 and IBMi (AS/400)
  • Experience with SQL and database design
  • Experience utilising testing frameworks
  • Knowledge of fundamentals like object-oriented programming, design patterns, and algorithms
  • Prior experience with Medium to Large-scale systems, conceptual design, and implementation of modern software architectures
  • Experience with continuous integration tools such as GIT, Bitbucket or equivalent tools
  • Knowledge and awareness of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience of working with different development methodologies e.g. Kanban, Scrum
  • Confident, and able to take initiative given client and delivery focused environment
  • Excellent organisational, administration and time management skills
  • Good team communication skills, confident in dealing with internal and external clients
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Superior analytical thinking and problem solving.
Non-essential experience
  • Experience of working within the Financial Services sector
  • A degree in Computer Science or a comparable title
  • Any Java development experience.
