WSP India is seeking a Data Engineer to own database design, governance, and analytics-focused data pipelines. You will build robust data models, develop ETL/ELT processes, and deliver operational and strategic insights through SSRS/SSMS reports and Power BI dashboards.

The role emphasizes collaboration with GIS teams, solution architects, and cross-functional project teams to drive reliable, scalable data solutions for infrastructure and land-management projects.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Database Ownership & Architecture

• Lead thedesign, construction, and optimisationof SQL Server databases that support core business applications and reporting.
• Own thedatabase schema, data models, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
• Managedata ingestion pipelinesand integrations, ensuring reliable,accurate, andhigh-qualitydata flow into the database.
• Overseedatabase governance, documentation, security standards, and access controls.

Data Engineering & Reporting

• Build and maintainETL/ELT pipelinesusing tools suchasAzure Data Factory.
• Develop and deploySSMS and SSRS custom reportsfor operational and strategic insight.
• Build robustdata models for Power BIand support analysts withwell-structureddatasets.
• UsePython,Randothers as preferred orrequired,for automation, data transformation, and advanced analytics.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as theprimary technical ownerfor the database(s)within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Translate business and project requirements into scalable database solutions.
• Troubleshoot issues and proactively improve performance, reliability, and usability.
• Work closely with solution architects and technical development teams

DesirableGeospatial & Domain Data

• Manage and optimisespatial datasetswithinPostGISor SQL Server spatial components.
• Work with GIS teams to ensurehigh qualitygeospatial data feeds into applications and dashboards.

Qualifications

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

Strong technical skills in SQL Server databases, scripting (preferably Python or R), SQL, data management, and strong accountability behaviours along with a proactive, resilient mindset and exceptional problem-solving abilities are required. The ideal candidate will have a customer focused mindset to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.

• 3–5 years’ experience in data engineering with demonstrable database ownership or administration responsibilities.
• Strong proficiency in SQL Server: schema design, indexing, optimisation, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and integrating data from multiple systems.
• Hands-on experience with SSRS, SSMS, Python, R, and Power BI.
• Solid understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, and secure access management.
• Experience with spatial databases (PostGIS or SQL Server spatial) and GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS).
• Ability to document systems clearly and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

• Exposure to big data tools such as Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
• Experience with Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake) or AWS/GCP equivalents.
• Understanding of CI/CD, Git, and automated testing processes.
• Knowledge of BIM datasets and AEC digital workflows.
• Professional certifications in cloud or data engineering (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate).
