Job summary

Akamai Technologies in Pune invites an experienced Akamai Security - Implementation Specialist to lead implementation, onboarding, and post-deployment support across Akamai security, delivery, observability, DNS, and storage products.

You will work with security, application, API, network, and infrastructure teams; onboard data sources, perform TSRs, and provide proactive operational support and continuous improvement across the Akamai platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 8–10 years overall cybersecurity or network-security experience, including 5+ years with Akamai solutions and at least 4 years implementing and operating API Security, WAAP, CDN/delivery, DNS, bot management, and edge services.
• Demonstrated implementation and operational experience with Akamai API Security, App API Protector with Advanced Security Management and Advanced Delivery, TrafficPeak, Image and Video Manager – Image Optimization, Edge DNS, EdgeWorkers, Bot Manager Premier, mPulse Lite, and NetStorage.
• Akamai Security (WAAP, CDN, Edge DNS, and Bot Manager) certification is strongly preferred; relevant Akamai product certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and optimise the customer’s Akamai product suite, including API Security, App API Protector with Advanced Security Management and Advanced Delivery, TrafficPeak, Image and Video Manager – Image Optimization, Edge DNS, EdgeWorkers, Bot Manager Premier, mPulse Lite, and NetStorage.
• Design, implement, and manage Akamai API Security, CDN/delivery, and content storage solutions to support high availability, secure delivery, and optimised digital performance.
• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain edge logic using EdgeWorkers to meet advanced application, API, security, and routing requirements.
• Administer and optimise Edge DNS, including DNS configuration, resilience, change control, and security‑focused DNS operations.
• Configure and tune Bot Manager Premier for web and mobile applications to identify, classify, and mitigate automated threats while minimising business impact.
• Implement and manage App API Protector policies, including WAF controls, API protection controls, Advanced Security Management features, and associated security configurations.
• Configure and support TrafficPeak and mPulse Lite to provide actionable visibility into traffic patterns, application performance, and user‑experience indicators.

• Deploy, implement, configure, and optimise the customer’s Akamai product suite, including API Security, App API Protector with Advanced Security Management and Advanced Delivery, TrafficPeak, Image and Video Manager – Image Optimization, Edge DNS, EdgeWorkers, Bot Manager Premier, mPulse Lite, and NetStorage.
• Design, implement, and manage Akamai API Security, CDN/delivery, and content storage solutions to support high availability, secure delivery, and optimised digital performance.
• Configure and maintain Image and Video Manager – Image Optimization to improve image quality, format selection, caching efficiency, and page performance.
• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain edge logic using EdgeWorkers to meet advanced application, API, security, and routing requirements.
• Administer and optimise Edge DNS, including DNS configuration, resilience, change control, and security‑focused DNS operations.
• Configure and tune Bot Manager Premier for web and mobile applications to identify, classify, and mitigate automated threats while minimising business impact.
• Implement and manage App API Protector policies, including WAF controls, API protection controls, Advanced Security Management features, and associated security configurations.

API Security Onboarding Endpoint Rationalisation

• Onboard and validate additional customer data sources into the Akamai API Security platform, building on the existing Akamai native connector integration.
• Analyse the API endpoints discovered through the native connector and establish a validated endpoint inventory aligned to the customer’s licensed capacity.
• Classify discovered APIs by business ownership, exposure, traffic, sensitivity of data processed, authentication profile, risk, and security relevance to identify endpoints requiring active security attention.
• Identify duplicate, deprecated, internal‑only, low‑risk, non‑sensitive, test, and otherwise out‑of‑scope endpoints, and recommend defensible inclusion, exclusion, grouping, or remediation actions in accordance with the customer’s governance requirements.
• Work with application and security owners to confirm endpoint classification, resolve data‑quality issues, reduce unnecessary endpoint volume, and prioritise high‑risk APIs for protection and monitoring.
• Produce endpoint‑rationalisation reports, decision records, and actionable recommendations that demonstrate progress toward the licensed API endpoint limit without compromising security coverage.

Technical Security Reviews Operational Assistance

• Conduct Technical Security Reviews (TSRs) across the Akamai product portfolio, assessing design, configuration, security controls, operational readiness, performance, and alignment with customer standards.
• Document TSR observations, prioritised risk findings, remediation recommendations, ownership, and target completion dates; track the closure of agreed actions with relevant stakeholders.
• Provide hands‑on operational assistance and maintenance, including configuration hygiene, change support, policy tuning, certificate and DNS‑related coordination, platform health checks, and lifecycle management across the listed Akamai products.
• Perform troubleshooting, incident management, root‑cause analysis, and policy optimisation across API Security, App API Protector, Bot Manager Premier, Edge DNS, EdgeWorkers, delivery, observability, and storage services.

Support Managed Services

• Act as the post‑implementation support engineer for the Akamai product suite and provide remote L2/L3 support for security, delivery, DNS, API Security, observability, and storage services.
• Provide troubleshooting, configuration management, incident resolution, maintenance, and performance optimisation, with clear operational documentation and controlled change execution.
• Conduct incident response for P1 incidents, coordinate with customer and vendor teams, and ensure timely communication, containment, restoration, and post‑incident follow‑up.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Lead advisory sessions and working meetings with business, application, API, network, infrastructure, and security stakeholders.
• Act as a technical advocate, ensuring that Akamai implementations, TSR outcomes, API endpoint governance, and operational practices align with business and security objectives.
• Prepare clear reports on API discovery and rationalisation, traffic, security posture, TSR findings, operational health, incident trends, and optimisation outcomes.

Required Skills

• Expert hands‑on experience with Akamai API Security, including data‑source onboarding, API discovery analysis, endpoint inventory validation, risk‑based classification, and endpoint rationalisation.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex performance, delivery, DNS, API‑security, and web‑security issues in enterprise environments.
• Experience delivering consulting, implementation, and managed services for enterprise clients, including operational maintenance and stakeholder coordination.
• Excellent written and verbal stakeholder communication, documentation, incident management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
