Job Title: AI Research Engineer Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Department: AI Research & Development / Emerging Technologies

Overview

We are seeking a passionate AI Research Engineer to conduct cutting‑edge research, develop novel algorithms, and prototype advanced AI/ML solutions. You will push the boundaries of artificial intelligence in areas such as computer vision, generative AI, NLP, autonomous systems, and predictive modeling, contributing to innovative products in Chennai's thriving automotive, manufacturing, and tech R&D ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in‑depth research on state‑of‑the‑art AI/ML algorithms, models, and techniques (deep learning, reinforcement learning, generative models, multimodal AI).
  • Design, implement, benchmark, and optimize novel AI models and architectures using frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face.
  • Perform experiments, analyze results, and document findings through technical reports, papers, and presentations.
  • Prototype proof‑of‑concepts and scalable AI solutions for real‑world problems (e.g., image processing, predictive analytics, autonomous driving, GenAI applications).
  • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, product teams, and domain experts to translate research into deployable systems.
  • Stay current with the latest AI advancements, research papers (arXiv, conferences like NeurIPS/CVPR/ICLR), and emerging trends.
  • Contribute to intellectual property (patents), open‑source projects, or publications when applicable.
  • Mentor junior team members and support ethical AI practices, bias mitigation, and model interpretability.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (PhD highly preferred for senior/research‑focused roles).
  • 3–8+ years of hands‑on experience in AI/ML research and development (publications, Kaggle competitions, or research projects count favorably).
  • Strong proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow preferred).
  • Solid understanding of ML algorithms, statistics, linear algebra, probability, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with data processing libraries (NumPy, Pandas, scikit‑learn) and tools for experimentation (Jupyter, Weights & Biases).
Preferred
  • Publications in top‑tier conferences/journals (NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR) or contributions to open‑source AI projects.
  • Expertise in specialized areas: Computer Vision, NLP/LLMs, Generative AI, Reinforcement Learning, or Edge AI.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, GCP), MLOps tools, or distributed training.
  • Knowledge of ethical AI, model robustness, and domain‑specific applications (e.g., automotive, healthcare, manufacturing).
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical skills, and ability to work in fast‑paced R&D environments.
