Job summary

pharma& is seeking a talented AI & Machine Learning Intern to join our Hyderabad team. This on-site, full-time internship provides hands-on experience in applying AI/ML to real-world business problems, with mentoring and exposure to end-to-end model development.

You will work on developing and evaluating ML models, exploring Generative AI, data prep, feature engineering and using LLM APIs, with a strong emphasis on practical projects and demonstrable work showcased in GitHub or portfolio.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in AI/ML, CS, Math or a related field.
• Strong Python programming skills with hands-on Pandas, NumPy and Scikit-learn.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow and model development.
• Good understanding of data structures, statistics and ML concepts.
• Experience building and evaluating ML models and selecting metrics.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub and ML experimentation workflows.
• Knowledge of LLM concepts, tokenisation and prompting is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• As part of the team, develop and evaluate ML models and benchmarks.
• Explore Generative AI and LLM applications for business problems.
• Work with structured and unstructured data and feature engineering.
• Support POC development and AI prototypes with data pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across data, analytics and digital.

Qualifications

Candidates should have:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree, or currently be studying towards a degree, in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a closely related quantitative field
• Strong Python programming skills
• Hands-on experience with Pandas, NumPy and Scikit-learn
• Hands-on experience with at least one deep learning framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, probability, statistics and mathematical concepts relevant to machine learning
• Demonstrated experience building, training and evaluating machine learning models
• Ability to select and interpret appropriate evaluation metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, ROC-AUC, RMSE or similar
• Understanding of data preparation, feature engineering, exploratory data analysis, model validation and model optimisation
• Working knowledge of Git and GitHub
• Understanding of Large Language Model concepts, including tokenisation, embeddings, encoder/decoder architectures, prompting, context windows, pre-training and fine-tuning
• Hands-on experience using an LLM API, open-source LLM or AI development framework
• Familiarity with prompting and in-context learning
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical problems
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical work clearly

Demonstrable AI/ML project required

Applicants must have at least one AI, machine learning or data science project that they can demonstrate and explain in detail during the interview.

Internship requirements

Candidates must be able to work full-time and on-site from our Hyderabad office for the full six-month internship.

We are looking for candidates who are technically curious, enjoy solving complex problems and can demonstrate that they have already started building and experimenting with AI and machine learning technologies.
