Job summary

smartData is seeking an AI Lead Engineer in India with 4–5 years of hands-on AI/ML experience. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of enterprise AI solutions spanning NLP, CV, and predictive analytics.

You will build Generative AI and LLM-based applications, including RAG pipelines and AI agents, while mentoring junior engineers and shaping architecture. You will drive ML model development, deployment, and MLOps practices, collaborating across product, data, and engineering

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Core AI/ML engineering and Python programming.
• Hands-on experience with ML algorithms and DL frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Keras).
• Experience with NLP, CV, and predictive analytics.
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings, and RAG architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML solutions across multiple business use cases.
• Develop and optimize ML/DL models for prediction, classification, recommendation, NLP, and Computer Vision.
• Build and deploy Generative AI and LLM-based applications, including RAG pipelines and AI agents.
• Perform data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and hyperparameter tuning.
• Develop scalable AI APIs and backend services using Python frameworks.
• Own model deployment, monitoring, scalability, and performance optimization in production.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, and Business teams; mentor junior engineers and contribute to architecture discussions.
• Implement MLOps best practices, including CI/CD, model versioning, and automated deployment workflows.
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI, Deep Learning, Generative AI, and emerging frameworks and tools.

We are looking for an AI Lead Engineer with strong experience in Core AI/ML along with exposure to Generative AI technologies. The candidate will lead intelligent AI solutions involving Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, predictive analytics, and LLM-based systems for enterprise applications. The role requires 4–5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Core AI/ML engineering and Python programming.
• Hands‑on experience with Machine Learning algorithms and Deep Learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn, Keras, or similar.
• Strong understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning, classification, regression, clustering, recommendation systems, and model evaluation techniques.
• Experience delivering projects in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, or predictive analytics.
• Hands‑on experience with Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, embeddings, RAG architecture, and vector databases such as FAISS, Pinecone, ChromaDB, or Weaviate.
• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or backend API development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, MLOps, data structures, algorithms, scalable system design, debugging, problem-solving, communication, and leadership.

Experience Requirement

• Minimum 4–5 years of hands‑on experience in AI/ML software development.
• Proven experience building and deploying enterprise-grade AI solutions using both Core AI/ML and Generative AI technologies.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and delivering scalable AI applications in production environments is preferred.
