Job summary

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) seeks a Technical Lead for Agentic Automation to shape the enterprise AI platform. You will define technical direction, design and refine AI models and autonomous agents, and collaborate with PMs and engineering leaders to scale AI capabilities across Tech@BCG.

You will mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and ensure security, governance, and responsible AI principles while delivering reliable, scalable solutions in a collaborative, client-facing environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with enterprise-scale systems.
• Expertise in enterprise AI, Generative AI, and architecting scalable platforms.
• Experience tuning LLMs, RAG pipelines, vector databases and embeddings.
• Proficiency with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini APIs.
• Experience integrating AI agents with Jira/Confluence/CI/CD pipelines.

What You'll Do

As the Technical Lead for Agentic Automation within Tech@BCG, you will define the technical direction for an enterprise AI platform that shifts common, repeatable tasks across Tech@BCG — spanning Change & Communications, User Research & Design, Enterprise Architecture, and other business-facing functions — onto a non-human, AI-driven workforce. You will design, build, and fine-tune the AI models and agent systems that power this workforce — including retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, prompt and context engineering, and evaluation frameworks for model quality and safety — while working in close partnership with Product Management and engineering leaders to identify which tasks are best suited for automation and translate that judgment into production-grade agents, built on practices such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and event-driven architectures, that improve throughput, consistency, and quality across the function.

You will serve as the technical authority for AI architecture, establishing engineering standards, guiding implementation decisions, and mentoring engineers while driving the evolution from event-driven AI capabilities toward increasingly autonomous, multi-agent systems capable of owning end-to-end workflows with minimal human intervention. You will lead architecture reviews, evaluate emerging AI technologies, and ensure agentic systems are secure, resilient, observable, and aligned with enterprise architecture, governance, and Responsible AI principles — balancing the pace of automation with enterprise-grade reliability, oversight, and operational excellence.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline (must have); relevant AI or cloud certifications are a plus
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including demonstrated technical leadership designing and delivering enterprise-scale software platforms (must have).
• Demonstrated expertise in enterprise AI, Generative AI, and intelligent agent architectures, with experience building secure, scalable, production-ready AI solutions on cloud-native, API-first, event-driven architectures across Azure and AWS (must have).
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning and evaluating large language models, designing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and working with vector databases and embedding models; fluent with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini APIs, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph or Semantic Kernel (must have)
• Experience integrating AI agents into the platforms Tech@BCG teams rely on day to day — engineering tools such as Jira, Confluence, and CI/CD pipelines, alongside ITSM, ticketing, and internal knowledge systems — to automate common workflows end to end; proven ability to influence technical direction and mentor engineers (preferred).

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on shifting common, repeatable work across Tech@BCG onto a non-human, AI-driven workforce. You'll partner closely with Product Management, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Security, and business-facing Tech@BCG teams to identify automation opportunities and deliver scalable AI capabilities, and will engage regularly with engineering leaders, architects, and technical specialists to establish standards, evolve platform capabilities, and drive adoption of agentic AI practices across the function.
