Job summary

GMR Group seeks an experienced airport terminal planning professional to lead capacity planning, translate traffic forecasts, and develop design day peak analyses across a portfolio of airports. Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Airport Planning, Engineering, Urban Planning, Transportation or related discipline
7–15+ years of increasing responsibility in airport terminal planning or airport development experience

Job description

JOB PURPOSE

Acts as GMR’s–operator technical authority for terminal planning across a portfolio of airports, defining processor capacities, translating traffic forecasts, preparing a design day flight schedule and calculating the peak hour passengers, reviewing consultant outputs and preparing terminal configuration layout plans to ensure capacity can accommodate demand, enable operational efficiency, meets regulatory compliance, cost effectiveness, and lifecycle scalability. Prepare project deliverables including written reports and drawing submissions.

Responsibilities

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Terminal Capacity Planning & Passenger Processing

Develop terminal processor capacities based on traffic forecasts, design day schedules, and peak-hour analysis
Define capacity and space requirements for check-in, security, immigration, gates, baggage reclaim, and arrivals processing
Establish processing rates, queue allowances, and area standards aligned with service level targets
Ensure alignment between processor sizing, circulation space, and total terminal footprint
Prepare terminal processor simulations with CAST and/or AirTOP Terminal programs
Processor capacities approved within ±5% of validated peak demand
Compliance with current IATA ADRM Level of Service standards for all key processors
Consistency between demand forecasts, processor sizing, and terminal GFA
Validate terminal planning configurations through simulation models

Traffic Forecast Translation & Peak Analysis

Translate traffic demand forecasts into terminal planning parameters
Identify peak hour, busy hour, and design hour volumes for domestic and international operations
Review and validate consultant-provided peak analysis assumptions
Balance capacity provisions against CAPEX, OPEX, and land constraints
Peak-hour definitions accepted by stakeholders without major rework
Planning assumptions endorsed by finance and operations teams
Optimized capacity solutions aligned with cost and land constraints

Consultant Management & Submission Review

Act as GMRs technical representative for terminal planning consultants
Review and validate capacity models, processor calculations, and LoS analysis
Identify overdesign, under-capacity, or misalignment with forecasts
Provide formal technical comments and recommendations
100% of consultant submissions reviewed within agreed timelines
Reduced rework cycles on terminal planning submissions
Early identification and mitigation of planning and capacity risks

Landside & Curbside Planning

Review terminal curbside demand estimates and modal split assumptions
Validate dwell times, curb lengths, and forecourt layouts
Coordinate landside planning with traffic engineering and operations teams
Curbside sizing aligned with peak demand and modal split targets
Reduced congestion events during peak periods
No. of audits findings closed

Operational Integration & Compliance

Integrate inputs from security, immigration, baggage, ORAT, and airport operations
Ensure layouts support efficient staff movement, maintainability, and automation
Ensure compliance with IATA ADRM, ICAO SARPs, and national regulatory requirements.
Post-opening processor performance meets defined service targets
Zero major regulatory non-compliances
Demonstrated reduction in long-term operating costs and complexity

Terminal planning consultants, architects, engineers, regulators, airlines, and security and border control agencies
