Job summary

Commergence is seeking an AEM Guides Developer to build and customize AEM Guides solutions and XML/DITA content. You will design information architecture, create reusable components, and collaborate with UX/UI and backend teams to deliver engaging digital experiences.

The role emphasizes frontend and backend development using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and AEM Guides, with a focus on content modelling and taxonomy. Experience with CMS tools and Agile practices is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in AEM and AEM Guides development, including components, templates, and workflows.
  • Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks (React/Angular/Vue).
  • Proficient in XML, XSLT, XPath for XML DITA content creation and management.
  • Experience with Java, JCR, and OSGi.
  • Familiarity with CMS tools like Oxygen XML Editor, FrameMaker, SDL Trisoft.
  • Knowledge of information architecture, taxonomy design, and content modelling.

Job description

As an AEM Guides Developer, you will be responsible for developing, customizing, and implementing Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Guides solutions and XML-based content to create interactive, personalized, and dynamic digital experiences for end-users. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI designers, content strategists, and backend developers, to deliver high-quality AEM Guides-based solutions that meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and customize AEM Guides templates, components, and workflows to create interactive and dynamic digital experiences for end-users.
  • Implement frontend and backend solutions using AEM Guides, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies.
  • Design and develop information architecture for XML DITA content, including organizing and categorizing content, defining metadata and taxonomy, and ensuring consistency and structure in content.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and content authors to create, review, and edit XML content. Ensure adherence to DITA best practices, including topic-based writing, modular content creation, and content reuse.
  • Implement and maintain content management processes and workflows for XML DITA content, including versioning, tracking, and content reuse strategies. Use content management systems (CMS) and DITA-specific tools to manage and publish DITA content.
  • Create and manage structured content, including designing DITA-based information models, developing DITA maps, topics, and metadata, and creating reusable DITA components such as topics, concepts, and references.
  • Integrate AEM Guides with other systems and third-party applications, such as CRM, DAM, and analytics, to enable seamless data exchange and improve the overall user experience.
  • Unit Testing and Debugging: Conduct thorough development testing and debugging of AEM Guides solutions to ensure high-quality and error-free deliverables. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AEM Guides implementation and performance.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, development guides, and user documentation, to ensure proper understanding and usage of AEM Guides solutions. Create and maintain style guides, writing guidelines, and documentation templates for XML DITA content authors
  • Collaborative Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI designers, content strategists, and backend developers, to ensure alignment of AEM Guides solutions with business requirements and best practices.
  • Stay Updated with Industry Trends: Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in AEM Guides development, digital experience management, and web technologies to continuously enhance skills and contribute to the improvement of AEM Guides solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • Strong experience in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and AEM Guides development, including developing AEM components, templates, and workflows. Strong experience in XML content development, including designing DITA information models, creating DITA maps, topics, and metadata, and developing reusable DITA components.
  • Proficient in frontend technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and relevant frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue).
  • Proficient in XML, XSLT, XPath, and other relevant technologies for XML DITA content creation and management.
  • Experience in backend technologies such as Java, JCR, and OSGi.
  • Familiarity with tools and CMS, such as Oxygen XML Editor, Adobe FrameMaker, SDL Trisoft, or similar.
  • Knowledge of content modelling, asset management, and content authoring using AEM Guides. Knowledge of information architecture principles, content categorization, and taxonomy design.
  • Experience with content management processes and workflows, including versioning, tracking, and publishing.
  • Experience with AEM Forms and AEM Communities is a plus.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve content-related issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Ability to adapt and learn new technologies quickly.
