Job summary

Applause Hyderabad is seeking an experienced Accessibility Specialist to ensure websites and applications meet WCAG 2.0/2.1, EN 301 and related standards. You will work with Developers and QA to remediate code, run audits, and mentor the team while collaborating with customers to tailor accessibility services.

The role requires 5+ years in accessibility, deep knowledge of accessibility technologies, and the ability to lead discussions with developers and product teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a professional Accessibility specialist capacity.
• Deep technical knowledge of accessibility; ability to provide code-level remediation and lead discussions with developers.
• Experience with WCAG checkpoints and EN 301 549 standards.
• Consulting agency experience and strong customer-facing skills.
• Self-starter with a hands-on, get-things-done attitude.

Responsibilities

• Act as a SME on accessibility and WCAG; provide audit reviews to ensure internal compliance.
• Collaborate with Sales to customize accessibility service solutions and provide recommendations.
• Prepare, run, and report on feedback from user reviews and WCAG audits.
• Review web pages and apps to identify WCAG/EN 301 549 violations within scope.
• Educate product teams and run office hours with customers or internally.
• Manage multiple projects with different customers and track program status.
• Train and mentor internal staff; motivate team to reach goals.
• Ensure the quality of all customer deliverables before release.

Responsibilities:

• Act as one of the go-to SMEs on accessibility, WCAG guidelines and code-level remediation solutions for junior accessibility team members; provide regular audit reviews to ensure internal compliance with best practices
• Collaborate with internal Sales staff to customize accessibility service solutions, provide subject matter expertise and give business-oriented recommendations
• Preparing, running and reporting on feedback from user reviews and WCAG Audit
• Review web pages and applications to identify all WCAG or EN 301 549 violations within the defined scope.
• Be an educational resource to product teams, and running office hours with customers or internally
• Running multiple projects with different customers
• Keeping track of the program status
• Training and mentoring internal staff
• Ability to motivate team members to reach project goals
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Validate the quality of all customer deliverables before release

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in a professional Accessibility specialist capacity
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• Deep technical knowledge of accessibility; ability to provide code-level remediation and lead discussions with developers
• Experience in and deep understanding of accessibility, including assistive technologies, EN 301 and WCAG checkpoints
• Consulting agency experience and strong customer-facing skills
• Self-starter, self-motivated, rolling up your sleeves with a focus on getting things done
• Effectively multi task and manage concurrent activities
• Comfortable working in a matrix environment across the organization in a collaborative manner
