Job Description

Killarney Precision Engineering Limited t/a O’Carroll Engineering, based in Killarney, Co. Kerry, is currently seeking Welder‑Fabricators for immediate start for their facility in Killarney, Co. Kerry.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ welding & fabrication experience is required.
  • There are no minimum academic requirements.
  • Welding certification is preferred.

General Duties / Responsibilities / Experience:

  • Operate welding equipment to join metalwork pieces together.
  • Use fusion welding processes based on various techniques and materials.
  • Perform simple visual inspection of welds.
  • Perform fillet welds, MIG welding and read drawings.
  • Wear appropriate protective gear and adhere to safety standards.
  • Smooth burrs and recognise metal imperfections.
  • Use sheet metal to construct roofs, ducts for heating & vents, gutters and other metal structures.
  • Read plans to determine type and amount of materials to be used.
  • Measure, bend, cut, shape and attach pieces if metal to create structure required.
  • Apply knowledge of welding techniques, torch temperature, metal thermal conductivity and fuel gas.
  • Understand welding from drawings (2D and 3D), MIG welding and fillet welds.
  • Apply metal joining technologies, metal thermal conductivity, rivet types and metal types.
  • Operate handheld riveting equipment and interpret 2D & 3D plans.
  • Use metal sawing machine.
  • Apply arc & spot welding techniques and precision metalworking techniques.
  • Maintain correct metal temperature and handle fuels.
  • Recognise signs of corrosion and remove inadequate workpieces.
  • Perform active gas welding and inert gas welding.

Annual remuneration: €34,000.00; Pay rate €16.77 per hour
