Job summary

Sodexo in Cork City is looking for a Weekend Cook to join our team. This part-time role offers 12 hours per week across Saturday and Sunday, 9:00am–3:00pm, with an hourly rate of €16.50. You will prepare fresh, nutritious meals and help ensure smooth service at weekends.

You’ll follow menus, maintain high hygiene standards and work both independently and with the catering team. If you take pride in cooking good food and want a rewarding weekend role, we’d love to hear from you.

Qualifications

• Previous experience cooking in a professional kitchen or catering environment.
• A genuine passion for preparing good-quality food.
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen requirements.
• Ability to follow menus, recipes and established procedures.
• Good organisation and time management skills.
• Reliable, responsible and flexible approach to work.
• Ability to work independently and maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious and well-balanced meals to a high standard.
• Follow menus and recipes, ensuring food is presented with care.
• Adapt to dietary requirements and ensure food safety and hygiene.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety.
• Keep kitchen, equipment and prep areas clean and ready for service.
• Monitor food levels and minimise waste through portion control.
• Work independently and support the wider catering team when required.
• Contribute to a warm, welcoming mealtime experience.
• Follow Sodexo and client procedures and complete food safety checks.

What you’ll do:

• Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious and well-balanced meals to a consistently high standard
• Follow menus and recipes while ensuring food is prepared and presented with care
• Adapt to individual dietary requirements and ensure food is prepared safely and appropriately
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety
• Ensure the kitchen, equipment and food preparation areas are kept clean, organised and ready for service
• Monitor food levels and minimise waste through effective preparation and portion control
• Work independently while also supporting the wider catering team when required
• Help create a warm, welcoming and positive mealtime experience
• Follow all Sodexo and client procedures and complete required food safety and hygiene checks
