Job summary

EMR Integrated Solutions is seeking an Automation Engineer to deliver PLC-based control-system projects for water and wastewater facilities. The role includes development, testing, commissioning and project handover, with site attendance during surveys and cutovers.

You will work under the Automation Team Lead, collaborating with senior engineers and client teams to ensure compliant installations and robust integration of SCADA/HMI platforms such as Ignition.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering PLC/SCADA projects, preferably in water or wastewater.
• Hands-on PLC programming, testing or commissioning experience.
• Understanding of water treatment processes and control philosophies.
• Familiarity with SCADA architecture and key components.
• Experience with Ignition or similar SCADA platforms.
• Knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA/DA, DNP3).
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in PLC/automation/SCADA.
• Experience with Schneider/Modicon and other PLCs.
• Basic Ethernet/TCP/IP knowledge.
• Awareness of OT cybersecurity practices.

Responsibilities

• Configure, program, test and commission PLC-based control systems per designs and standards.
• Assist with PLC replacement and migration activities with cutover planning.
• Develop PLC, HMI and SCADA applications and integrate with telemetry and remote I/O.
• Prepare functional descriptions, I/O schedules and test documentation.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning and handover activities.
• Collaborate with team leads and project managers to deliver requirements.
• Coordinate with client IT/OT for networks and secure remote access.
• Maintain project software, configuration records and licences.
