Job summary

Uisce Éireann in Ireland is seeking a Wastewater Compliance Analyst within Environmental Regulation. You will support regional wastewater compliance, assist in sampling plans, and help ensure labs and data meet regulatory requirements.

Working with EPA, HSE and local authorities, you will help manage data uploads to EDEN MDS, support reporting, and contribute to the achievement of environmental goals while upholding safety and integrity standards.

Qualifications

• Relevant third level qualification and/or accreditation.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in water/utilities or related industries.
• Ability to build partnerships with stakeholders and listen to diverse perspectives.
• Strong analytical skills and track record in resolving complex issues.

The Role:

The Environmental Regulation function is responsible for the day-to-day management of environmental regulation and compliance. The function monitors the compliance of the water and wastewater network and treatment works, influences external environmental policy and manages environmental stakeholder relationships. Environmental Regulation provides expertise to the Uisce Éireann business on influencing environmental policy and managing stakeholders around environmental regulation affecting Uisce Éireann’s practices. The function provides regulatory expertise to the business, including the Senior Leadership Team, in all aspects of environmental regulation. The team provides support on legislative and regulatory changes that will affect Uisce Éireann policies in the future

Reporting to the Regional Wastewater Compliance Manager, the Wastewater Compliance Analyst will be responsible for supporting with the management of compliance activities in line with both statutory and operational requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support the Regional Wastewater Compliance Manager with key wastewater compliance issues on behalf of Environmental Regulation Interface and implement sampling plans with regard to policies in a region.
• Support the Regional Wastewater Compliance Manager in the delivery of effective laboratory sampling services via Local Authorities, third party service providers or both
• Provide regular progress updates to the Watewater Compliance Technical Leads and assist in the development of briefing papers
• Support the development of appropriate risk mitigation and issue resolution action plans in coordination with appropriate operational teams to understand and address the causes of any non-compliance issues
• Contribute to achieving the objectives and targets of the Environmental Regulation Business plans
• Identify potential trouble sites identified via the sampling systems and data capture and escalated to the Regional Wastewater Compliance Manager
• Ensure compliance with HSQE (Health Safety Quality Environment) procedures
• Liaise with Regional Operations/Environmental team in a timely manner where areas of risk have been identified
• Support the Regional Wastewater Compliance Manager in meeting and liaising with the EPA and HSE to ensure that sampling, operations and reporting requirements are carried out as per regulations
• Responsible for day-to-day upload and management of data in EDEN MDS
• Responsible for the gathering and collating of data required to facilitate online incident notification to EPA and other key stakeholders
• Work as part of a team to manage statutory reporting requirements

General Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
• Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
• Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives
• Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
• Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Relevantthird level qualification and or accreditation is desirable
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience
• Ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and ability to look for and listen to diverse perspectives.
• Strong background in upholding organisational values through decision-making and constructive actions
• Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results within a team.
• Strong analytical skills with a proven track record inresolving complex issues, along with the ability to communicate information to others.
• Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements
• Ability to proactively identify new areas of improvement and implement new ways to do things.
• Experience in taking ownership of safety responsibilities and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Full Clean Driving Licence required.
