Swim Ireland is the National Governing Body (NGB) for Swimming, Water Polo, Diving and associated Aquatic Disciplines on the island of Ireland. Role Purpose

The Digital Content & Social Media Executive will play a key role in the promotion and storytelling of Swim Ireland’s participation programmes, with a particular focus on: The role will focus on creating engaging digital content across the Swim Ireland social media channels, while growing audiences, increasing programme awareness and supporting participation growth through targeted communications and social media activity. The successful applicant will support the Communications Department in acting as a brand guardian, ensuring that the Swim Ireland brand guidelines are adhered to consistently.

Key Responsibilities
Digital Content & Social Media
  • Develop and deliver content plans across Swim Ireland’s digital channels.
  • Create engaging social media content including graphics, photography, video and written content.
  • Manage the day-to-day promotion of participation initiatives.
  • Identify and share participant stories, success stories and community impact content.
  • Create, capture, edit and produce short-form video content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn.
  • Support the creation of promotional campaigns for programme registrations and key participation events.
  • Monitor social media trends and recommend opportunities to increase engagement.
  • Plan and manage content calendars and publishing schedules, ensuring consistent, on-brand messaging across all platforms.
Participation Programme Communications
  • Lead communications support for Swim Ireland participation programmes.
  • Develop promotional materials to support programme recruitment and retention.
  • Produce newsletters, website content and participant communications.
  • Work collaboratively with the participation department to identify communication opportunities and participant success stories.
  • Support national awareness campaigns promoting swimming participation across all ages and abilities.

  • Manage and deliver social media content specific to the facility.
  • Promote lessons, activities, programmes and special events.
  • Develop local community-focused campaigns to increase participation and visibility.
  • Capture and share stories highlighting the positive impact of the facility.
Website & Digital Platforms
  • Maintain relevant participation programme content across Swim Ireland websites.
  • Ensure information remains current, engaging and accessible.
  • Support online registration campaigns with relevant content and promotional assets.
  • Track and report on website and social media performance metrics.
Reporting & Evaluation
  • Provide monthly reports on:
    • Social media performance
    • Audience growth
    • Participation campaign results
    • Website analytics
    • Content performance
  • Make recommendations to improve engagement and reach.
Additional
  • Support the Marketing & Communications team at key events
  • Attend Swim Ireland conferences, competitions and events as required
  • Attend leisure industry events and networking opportunities as required.
Person Specification
Essential
  • At least one year of experience in digital marketing, communications or social media.
  • Strong content creation skills including copywriting, photography and video.
  • Experience managing social media platforms for organisations or brands.
  • Ability to create engaging community-focused content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Competent in Canva, CapCut, Meta Business Suite and other social media management and editing tools.
Desirable
  • Experience in the sport, leisure or participation sector.
  • Knowledge of swimming or aquatic activities.
  • Experience using website content management systems.
  • Basic video editing skills.
  • Understanding of community engagement and participation programmes.
