Job summary

MEDITE SMARTPLY in Clonmel, Ireland, seeks a Process and Utilities Engineer to support the engineering/operations team focused on utilities and plant management. You will lead day-to-day utilities activities, drive asset management, and work with Production, Quality and Maintenance to improve plant efficiency and safety.

This role demands a strong technical background, Lean experience and a proactive approach to problem solving in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science discipline.
• 5+ years in manufacturing/utilities environment.
• Experience in technical management/supervision.
• Knowledge of heavy rotating equipment, steam systems and effluent treatment.
• Lean manufacturing experience.
• Strong planning, numeracy and PC skills.
• Knowledge of safety legislation, codes of practice and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day activities within the utilities area including maintenance and operations functions.
• Monitor adherence to environmental, safety and quality legislation, certifications, standards.
• Develop and implement progressive planned & predictive asset management and maintenance systems.
• Carry out inspections of equipment and systems within the utilities area and plan repairs.
• Plan and coordinate major planned maintenance interventions within the utilities area.
• Lead root cause analysis and problem solving relating to utilities and implement protocols.
• Develop cross-functional relationships with Production, Quality, Environmental, Maintenance and Engineering.
• Coach and mentor the maintenance and operations teams to enhance technical knowledge.
• Foster continuous improvement and process excellence in the plant.
• Lead improvements to increase utility efficiencies and drive process excellence.
• Lead and support trials, plant and process modifications, investigation studies.
• Undertake, manage and report on specific plant and utilities improvement projects.
• Provide technical support to large projects and major equipment upgrades and maintenance.
• Engage OEMs and vendors; stay updated with new technologies for high performance.
