Job summary

MSD Ireland in Dunboyne, Co. Meath, is seeking an Upstream Process Science Lab Technical Lead to drive scientific leadership in the Process Sciences Laboratory and support technology transfer across the site.

The role requires 6+ years in biopharma, strong GMP and data interpretation skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams while maintaining safety and quality across biologics operations.

Qualifications

• Degree in science/technical field; MSc/PhD desirable.
• Minimum 6 years in biopharmaceutical development or MS&T with upstream bioprocess experience.
• Strong GMP knowledge, data integrity, and regulatory awareness.
• Proven ability to interpret datasets and translate findings into manufacturing actions.
• Effective communicator and cross-functional team player.

Responsibilities

• Lead Upstream scientists in design, planning and execution of scale-down and transfer studies.
• Oversee design and execution of small-scale studies to support transfer and lifecycle changes.
• Provide technical leadership for upstream unit operations (cell culture, harvest, scale-down).
• Support successful new product introduction across Drug Substance and Cell Banking programs.
• Lead and coach others, promoting safety, quality and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with global teams; represent MS&T on cross-functional projects.
