Job summary

A renowned music organisation in Dublin is inviting expressions of interest for new Board Members. This is an opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and sustainability of new music in Ireland. The role is voluntary and requires individuals with government or policy experience committed to upholding high governance standards. Applications should be submitted to the CEO along with a CV and cover letter by 19 December 2025.

Job description

Crash Ensemble, Ireland’s leading new music ensemble, is inviting expressions of interest from individuals who would like to join our Board of Directors and contribute to the future of new music in Ireland. Crash will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2027, we would love for you to be part of our team and share your expertise with us as we prepare to mark this major milestone.

We are seeking new board members and are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with government/policy experience.

Role of Board Members

Directors of the board are both company directors and charity trustees and should understand the legal duties of their role as per the Charities Regulator and the Arts Council’s Practical Guide for Board Members of Arts Organisations.

Directors are responsible for the organisation’s strategic direction and to ensure that the highest standards of governance are upheld in accordance with the Charities Governance Code. Directors are also responsible for the legal and financial oversight of Crash Ensemble and to support its fundraising efforts. This can be done in a number of ways including joining relevant sub‑committees, championing the ensemble’s work to relevant contacts and making introductions.

Board members are elected for a 2‑year term which is renewable up to a maximum of 6 years. Meetings are held 6 times per year including the AGM. Meetings are generally held online. Board members are expected to contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation and to attend events where possible.

Board membership is a voluntary, unpaid position.
