Job summary

Sysco Ireland is seeking a Transport Shift Manager for our Dublin Distribution Centre on a fixed-term contract. You will lead the transport team, oversee operational planning and execution of distribution functions, and drive performance and engagement across the depot.

The role requires experience managing high-volume distribution operations, strong IT and data analysis skills, and a hands-on leadership approach. Commitment to safety and customer service is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a relevant management / supervisory role in a high-volume, time-sensitive distribution operation.
• Experience in the food distribution industry is advantageous.
• Proficient with IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Fluent English – reading and writing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate depot activities and ensure efficient dispatch of routes daily.
• Coach and motivate delivery team; manage performance and attendance.
• Maintain communications with sales, warehouse and transport teams; lead daily/weekly briefings.
• Ensure vehicles are maintained, cleaned and operated safely to protect the brand.
• Manage incoming/outgoing goods and backhaul collections; relief driving as needed.
• Identify training needs and deliver targeted trainings for drivers.
• Maintain high standards of premises, security and Health & Safety procedures.
• Lead by example and apply company policies consistently.

This role will play a key part in the overall growth of the organisation along with helping to maintain our core ethos here are Sysco – keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do.** **\*This is a fixed-term contract until June 30th 2026\*****Summary:**Focused on leading our Transport team in our busy distribution centre and responsible for the operational planning & execution of our distribution functions in a state-of-the-art Distribution Centre. You must have experience of leading and building teams to drive performance, engagement and support our vision to being our customers’ most valued and trusted business partner.**Key Accountabilities:*** Co-ordination of all depot activities and efficient dispatch of routes daily, ensuring the smooth running of depot while ensuring delivery procedures and policies are adhered to at all times* Coaching and motivating members of the delivery team in line with performance and absence management processes to ensure concerns are managed appropriately. Analysing trends where appropriate, coach and where necessary follow the disciplinary processes.* Maintaining open ongoing communication with departments across the business including sales, warehouse and with the transport team, including daily/weekly briefings with the team* Ensuring equipment breakdown and repairs are minimized and reported* Ensuring that company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned and safely operated to reduce accidents and enhance the company brand* Manage incoming and outgoing goods and backhaul collections on a daily basis* Relief driving as necessary* Identifying, coordinates and delivers training as appropriate to meet driver needs* Ensuring the premises are maintained to the highest standards* Ensuring Security and Health & Safety Procedures are adhered to at all times* Leading by example and applying company policy and procedures in a fair, consistent and unbiased manner**Requirements:*** 3+ years’ experience in a relevant management / supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive distribution operation* Experience within the Food distribution industry is advantageous* Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word* Ability to plan and organise your own and your teams work activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner* Strong knowledge of the Department of Transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Work Time Directive etc.)* Proven ability to manage a team to deliver the highest standards of service* Proven ability to be an effective decision maker with a hands-on approach to the business* Ability to analyse, interpret and explain and present relevant business data* Fluent English – reading and writing* High level of flexibility and problem solving* A full clean Category C Drivers License, valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Card and have a digital tachograph card would be advantageous* Must possess a strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area**Core Competencies:*** **Building Effective Relationships** – Is a role model for maintaining constructive and effective relationships with others across departments and other boundaries.
