Job summary

Primark Stores Limited in Dublin is seeking a motivated Trainee Buyer to support the buying team, learning how to develop products and manage trader timelines. You’ll gain hands-on experience across supplier liaison, range planning, and quality checks, while contributing to on-time delivery and store readiness.

This entry‑level role offers exposure to fashion trends, price/value assessment, and collaboration with buyers and merchandisers to deliver compelling products for customers.

Trainee Buyers support their managers in maximising sales and profitability – in short, getting in the products our customers will love. They're learning the ropes on their way to becoming a Primark Buyer.

What you’ll do as a Trainee Buyer at Primark:

You’ll play a key role in supporting our buying team in developing products for the latest ‘must‐have’ trends. Working closely with the buyers and merchandisers, you’ll be responsible for managing the department’s critical path to make sure all of our amazing products arrive in store on time and are up to our high quality standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn about the industry and progress in a buying role.

In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:

• Accurately input orders, updating and amending computer systems with the order details as required
• Continually assess product range with key competitors to compare price, quality and value
• Daily communication with suppliers and attend any appropriate meetings
• Manage the critical path
• Liaise with suppliers regarding raised orders
• Preparation of size specifications
• Management of initial sealing and production samples (including fitting and quality)
• Effectively manage receipt and despatch of packages to and from suppliers
• Be aware of weekly stock and sales information for the section according to company policy

• Great communication - You are the first point of call for our suppliers over email and phone. You will be an active part of our departmental and supplier product meetings so great communication skills are a must.
• Total organisation - In a fast‐paced environment, managing the department’s products will be your domain. Whether it is for meetings, keeping the buying floor organised or managing what is sent to our online, social and press teams.
