Job summary

Tooling Support role in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, Ireland, is a full-time position within the Tooling department. The Toolmaker will maintain and repair high-volume injection moulds and fabricate or repair jigs and fixtures for mould tooling.

Work with Production and Engineering to troubleshoot mould problems, support tool trials and implement continuous improvement actions, while complying with quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in GMP environments is preferred.
  • Trade/technical background in tooling or related mechanical trades.
  • Self-starter with results orientation and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain high-precision moulds including multi-cavity and hot runner types.
  • Assemble and modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine and hand tools.
  • Support tool trials, validations, builds and tool changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with Production and Engineering to troubleshoot mould issues.
  • Adhere to quality, health & safety regulations and company policies.

Purpose of the job

The Toolmaker maintains and repairs all moulds in a high-volume injection moulding manufacturing facility. In addition, the Toolmaker has responsibility for the manufacture and repair of jigs and fixtures and spare parts for injection moulds.

Key responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain all high-precision moulds, to include multi-cavity moulds, Hot Runner moulds; Valve-gated moulds; Stack moulds
  • Compile standard specifications/procedures/records for each mould and monitor all existing moulds to standard specifications
  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
  • Support initial Tool trials and validations, etc.
  • Carry out Tool builds and support tool changes where required
  • Identify and generate opportunities for improvement and actively participate in the implementation of corrective action plans and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work with Production and Engineering teams in troubleshooting mould problems
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including quality requirements, financial controls, health and safety regulations, etc
Required qualifications, skills and experience

  • Be a self-starter & results oriented.
  • Have a strong worth ethic and the ability to work under pressure.
Qualifications
  • A toolmaking qualification is desired however not essential.
  • A qualification in a trade (mechanical, electrical, carpentry) is desired however not essential.
Experience
  • Experience working in a regulated GMP environment.
  • Relevant trade experience
Knowledge/skills
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, teamwork, IT, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel
  • Experience with equipment such as mills, surface grinders, and lathes
  • Lock out/Tag out and Forklift experience
