Bartra Healthcare in Clondalkin, Ireland, is recruiting a Full-Time Therapy Assistant for Clondalkin Lodge. This inpatient setting requires delivering physiotherapy assistance, supporting transfers, and preparing treatment areas.

You will assist the supervising therapist with assessments and interventions, help patients perform prescribed exercises, document progress, and uphold safety and infection-control standards.

Qualifications

  • Relevant 3rd level qualification in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Post Injury Therapy, Rehabilitation or Equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar post.
  • CORU certificate preferred (in process acceptable).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver an effective physiotherapy assistance service on an inpatient basis.
  • Assist in transfers of patients to and from therapy.
  • Prepare treatment areas, e.g., gym setup for rehab.
  • Assist in patient assessments and movement/positioning during sessions.
  • Support therapists with treatment interventions and exercise programs.
  • Document exercise programs and patient progress.
  • Maintain equipment and observe infection control standards.
  • Assist with personal care of patients.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Full Time Therapy Assistant for Clondalkin Lodge, New Road, Clondalkin Village, Dublin 22 D22 R9Y7
Responsibilities and duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Deliver an effective and efficient physiotherapy assistance service on an inpatient basis.
  • Assist in the transfer of patients to and from therapy.
  • Assist in the preparation of a treatment area i.e. gym set up for rehab.
  • Assist the therapist with patients’ assessment - assist patient to move, re-position/stabilise during an assessment.
  • Assist the therapist with treatment intervention.
  • Assist the therapist where two or more are required to treat a patient.
  • Carry out exercise programme with a patient.
  • Take patient through the exercise programme which the therapist has prescribed.
  • Document the above exercise programme intervention.
  • Mobilise patient and document same.
  • Carry out passive range of motion and assisted movement programmes.
  • Maintain and monitor consumable equipment.
  • Recognizes the importance of a good working relationship with frequent communication between the assistant and the supervising therapist.
  • Uses knowledge, training and skills to communicate effectively and appropriately with a range of different service users and providers
  • Uses knowledge to observe confidentiality when handling patient information.
  • Assist with the personal care of patients.
Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Relevant 3rd Level Qualification in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Post Injury Therapy, Rehabilitation or Equivalent.
  • 1-2 Years of experience in similar post.
Desirable:
  • In process of obtaining CORU Registration

  • Knowledge of occupational therapy services, facilities and equipment.
  • Ability to assess individual patient needs.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records.
  • Knowledge of a range of therapy methods and techniques.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to fabricate and fit a range of adaptive devices for individual patients and to instruct in their use and maintenance.
Risk Management, Infection Control, Hygiene Services and Health & Safety:
  • The post holder will report to the Director of Clinical Services. The management of Risk, Infection Control, Hygiene Services and Health & Safety is the responsibility of everyone and will be achieved within a progressive, honest and open environment.
  • The post holder must be familiar with the necessary education, training and support to enable them to meet this responsibility.
  • The post holder has a duty to familiarise themselves with the relevant Organisational Policies, Procedures & Standards and attend training as appropriate.
