Job summary

Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing for the Operating Theatre Department to provide strategic clinical leadership across seven theatres and CSSD. You will drive theatre utilisation, workforce planning, and governance to ensure high-quality patient care.

To be successful, you must be registered with NMBI, have 7 years post-registration nursing experience and 3 years management at CNM2 level (or equivalent), and hold an NFQ Level 8 or higher qualification

Qualifications

• Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division, and other relevant divisions as appropriate.
• Have 7 years post registration nursing experience and 3 years nursing management at CNM2 level in an acute setting, with 2 of those in Operating Department.
• Have completed a post-registration programme verified by QQI Level 8 or higher or equivalent evidence.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic clinical and professional nursing leadership for the Operating Theatre Department (7 theatres) and CSSD.
• Drive theatre utilisation, efficiency and performance; lead lists planning and throughput improvements.
• Lead and participate in hospital-wide operational and service improvement initiatives.
• Develop workforce plans, staffing, skill mix and competencies aligned with service demand.
• Oversee risk management, quality, safety, and clinical governance within perioperative services.
