Job summary

Medtronic plc in Ireland seeks a Technical Consultant to support the Cranial & Spinal portfolio, providing onsite clinical and technical support in operating theatres and training staff. You will work with Therapy Sales Specialists and other Technical Consultants across district coverage.

The role requires medical device experience, ability to travel and a flexible schedule to support surgeries and events. You will help maintain inventory and contribute to patient safety and high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the medical device industry or hospital operating room environment.
  • Ability to operate in a matrix environment with sales, physicians, nurses, and technicians.
  • Cranial, spinal, or orthopaedic knowledge is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on projects and as part of a team.
  • Flexible schedule with travel and weekend support as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical and technical support in operating theatres for cranial & spine cases.
  • Provides troubleshooting support to field sales and customers.
  • Participates in and supports training/education programs for employees and customers.
  • Supports regional events such as Congresses or Customer Events.
  • Ensures inventory is maintained at its optimal level per guidelines.
  • Identify scalable improvements to deliver outcomes with patient safety and quality.
  • Supports marketing and sales in the introduction and market release of new products.

A Day in the Life

An exciting position has arisen to support the service and sales of the Medtronic Cranial & Spinal portfolio that includes spinal navigation, imaging, and robotics as a Technical Consultant. You will have responsibility for technical and clinical implant support in operating theatres, training of theatre staff and inventory management. You will work in tandem with our experienced team of Therapy Sales Specialists & other Technical Consultants, and you will have district coverage. You will develop strong relationships with customers, providing onsite technical support, liaising between customers and cross-functional internal teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provides clinical and technical support to the clinical team in theatres for cranial & spine cases.
  • Provides troubleshooting support to field sales force and customers.
  • Participates in the development of employee and customer training/education programs.
  • Participates in and supports regional events such as Congresses or Customer Events.
  • Ensures inventory is maintained at its optimal level as per guidelines.
  • Identify ways to impact at scale and deliver outcomes with the highest standard of patient safety, quality, and ethics.
  • Supports marketing and sales in the introduction and market release of new products.
Required Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience in the medical (device) industry or in a hospital operating room environment.
  • Ability to operate in a matrix environment and work effectively with sales team, physicians, nurses, and hospital technicians.
  • Spinal/Orthopaedic or Cranial Knowledge is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on projects/duties as well as contributing to a larger team.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, travel and weekend support are required.
